Have you ever been this many teams their NCAA football unbeaten at the end of the season?

As of November 27, 2009, there are 6 undefeated teams in college football. This seems incredible to me. What is more to the final undefeated regular season before 2009? And I do not mean how potentially up to 4 undefeated teams in the final of the BCS bowls will be launched to perfection in a playoff.
