College Football enters the fantasy world
CBS Sports, apparently feeling bolder after the Supreme Court rejected the attempt by the MLB to raise the incomes of providers fantasy baseball, has announced it will offer a college football fantasy football game this season.
Gamers have always thought that nonsense that you can play college football video games for PlayStation and the like and see # 5 for the West Virginia football team blowing through the Grand Orient of defense, but do not let me know with certainty that it was Heisman candidate Pat White. CBS Sports is changing all that.
The new CBS Sports College fantasy football game used real names and statistics of college athletes for the next 2008 season.
In the past, CBS Sports had offered a match of the university, but has never caught on with the fantasy sports players. Probably because most college football fans have loyalty to their region team and although they may know the teams in its conference, it is difficult to keep up Division 120-1 with squads of the grid. Rapid real name, Marshall star running back who made the Conference and the U.S. all freshman team of the year past (a decision should be easy to remember: Darius Marshall).
In addition, players change every four years instead of 11-12 games are not the NFL 16 games plus 4-5 preseason games that no one cares. Certainly, it is much easier to meet the players of the 30 teams in the NFL. You've been looking more time and stand for four years in college. The universe simply because players available to a team of college fantasy football is huge, even if you have the ESPN GamePlan package.
But perhaps the most important reason why college football ever invented trapped in the past was the way in which players were presented lame. Rather than say it was the star of Missouri QB Chase Daniel, the games were forced to say Missouri quarterback # 10.
The Supreme Court decision not to hear the case of the majors on June 2 involving fantasy baseball led to this change by CBS Sports. In essence, the Supreme Court said that a sports league or entity does not have the rights of the statistics and player names are in the public domain.
Now, one would think the NCAA should get involved, right? I mean, they put their noses in banning the ability for the prospects of the university to receive text messages from coaches. Surprisingly, NCAA spokesman Bob Williams CBS Sports reminded that prohibits the use of player likenesses in the game, but for now, the NCAA does not intend to stand in the way of fantasy college football game.
That is great news for the NCAA, but I'm not sure you have heard the last of them on this issue. For now, get your pre-season college football consider getting guides and West Virginia running back Noel Devine and Pat White.
