Only 7 teams remained on top and on track to 2-0 in the second week of the season of college football Florida, USC, Alabama, California, Boise State, Brigham Young and Kansas.

No. 1 Florida 56-6 behind Troy smashed a career-high going 4-Tim Tebow touchdown and a rushing touchdown.

No. 3 Southern California saved the best for last against No. 7 Ohio State to win 18-15 on the road as freshman quarterback Matt Barkley led the Trojans in 14 plays and 95 yards for a score with 1:05 remaining. The Ohio State Buckeyes have lost 7 straight games against top 5 teams, including two national title games and last season by beating USC 35-3 in Los Angeles.

No. 4 Alabama scored Florida International 40-14 as QB Greg McElroy completed a school-record 14 consecutive passes. Remember that Alabama was the same school as Joe "Willie", directed Namath to a National Championship in 1964 and Kenny "The Snake led" Stabler to another National Championship in 1965. Both Namath and Stabler played for legendary coach Tide Red Paul "Bear" Bryant.

California No. 10 Eastern Washington routed, 59-7, behind 144 yards Best Yahweh and 2 rushing touchdowns, a land and one on a 22-yard reception.

No. 11 Boise State excluded from Miami of Ohio, 48-0, as quarterback Kellen Moore went to 16-of-26 for 307 yards and 4 touchdowns.

No. 12 Brigham Young, the monitoring of their 14-13 upset of Oklahoma last week, Tulane kicked sideways in the road, 54-3, as QB Max Hall threw for 309 yards and 2 touchdowns and Kaiya Bryan scored twice.

No. 25 Kansas beat UTEP, 34-7, on the road behind Jack Sharp 104 yards rushing and 3 touchdowns.

There are 4 genuine upset occurs like Notre Dame, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Michigan State all hit the turf hard.

No. 20 Our Lady allowed Tate Foci to launch a 5-yard touchdown pass to Greg Matthews with 11 seconds to go for a 38-34 victory unranked Michigan in the Big House in Ann Arbor. Photios, a freshman, was 23-of-33 for 240 yards, 2 touchdowns, one interception and rushed for 70 yards and a score. Notre Dame star QB Jimmy Clausen, now a young man, he went 25-for-42 for 336 yards and a TD 3, but missed some shots that proved costly.

You can argue about who was the best QB on this day, however, has nothing but the end result, and Notre Dame came up again a loser in a big game.

After taken by Georgia last week, No. 6 Oklahoma State, the favorite of 15 points, to leave everything to escape while they lost to Houston 45-35 at home. The Cowboys have to learn to ride again, seems to have provided more offense than defense.

UCLA quietly went to 2-0 by upsetting Tennessee in the way 19-15. Volunteers, one of 10-point favorites, are not doing much more in the SEC.

The Michigan State Spartans favored by 14.5, Central Michigan left totally shame with a last-second 29-27 defeat in their own field. The Spartans had a great time this year, it offered the opportunity to run the table (undefeated) as noted in both Michigan and Penn State at home and not have to play Ohio State. Instead, Michigan State out-coached, out played and deserved lose.

Five teams went 2-0 and scored a good win to cement their position as above and newcomers to follow:

No.18 Nebraska, favored by 21, beat Arkansas State 38-9. Cincinnati defeated No. 23 1-AA SE Missouri State 70-3. Graduation Pittsburgh, favored by 10.5, a good beat Buffalo team 54-27 on the road. Graduation-state rival Iowa beat Iowa State 35-3 on the road.

Graduation and upset unbeaten Southern Methodist UAB 35-33, and they did it on the road. Now do not laugh at SMU, giving the Mustangs and coach June Jones some credit, after all, if you're a fan of Virginia Tech, Oklahoma, Rutgers and Georgia, his team is not 2-0, which is 1-1.

Another team that went 0-12 unclassified last year finally won their first game in 16 attempts as the new head coach Steve Sarkisian and new defensive coordinator Nick Holt collected an impressive 42-23 victory over Idaho. Yes, Idaho is not much, but Washington is going to start winning and playing better teams to Idaho. You read it here first.

Here are 19 teams that have gone 2-0 to start the season, but their victories have been no big deal considering the competition they have been playing:

No. 2 Texas, favored by 32.5, beat Wyoming 41-10 on the road, but could not cover the spread.

No. 5 Penn State favored by 28.5, beat Syracuse 28-7, but could not cover the spread.

No. 9 LSU favored by 14.5, beat Vanderbilt, 23-9, but could not cover the spread.

No. 17 Utah favored by 14, beat San Jose State 24-14, but could cover the spread.

No. 19 North Carolina favored by 4.5, needed 12 points just beat Connecticut in the last quarter 12-10, but could not cover the spread.

No. 24 Oregon State, favored by 7, beat University Las Vegas 23-21, but could not cover the spread.

So seriously, why are Texas, Penn State, LSU, Utah, North Carolina and Oregon State score so high? Answer: ask anyone who bet on them not only to win, but the levels of diffusion.

Here are the other 13 teams are 2-0 with no particular order, because, frankly, it's too early to tell whether they are really good at all:

Missouri Bowling Green 27-20, 44-10 over New Mexico Tulsa, Hawaii, Washington State 38-20, 49-24 in Auburn Mississippi State, South Florida on 35-13 Western Kentucky, West Virginia East Carolina 35-20, Rice 55-10 Texas Tech, Boston College, 34-7 Kent State, Minnesota Air Force 20-13, Southern Mississippi University of Florida Central (UCF) 26-19, and Northwestern at Eastern Michigan 27-24.

Arizona also for 1-AA Northern Arizona 34-17, and the State of Colorado requires a touchdown 4th quarter to beat 1-AA Weber State 24-23.

Here are 5 teams that won their first match, but actually have to play a good team and win think they are doing anything worth talking about:

No. 14 Oklahoma beat 1-AA Idaho State 64-0, No. 16 TCU beat Virginia 30-14, No. 21 Georgia barely beat South Carolina 41-37, Virginia Tech beat Marshall 52-10 and Rutgers beat 1-AA Howard 45 -7.

Every week there are games in college football and victories that make you do a double take when you read the score and check out equipment. Here are 3 of this week:

Colorado beat Toledo 54-38 in home, leaving the Buffaloes 0-2. This made me wonder if there have been collapses in development in the State of Colorado. Much more and the Buffalo is located outside radar screen. Maryland needs a little extra time to beat 1-AA James Madison 38-35. Lafayette Louisiana State upset Kansas 17-15.

Put an envelope on which Benny and throw it in the archives, it's time to get ready to s the third week of college football competition.
