Marks v. The Pauls
Marks vs The Pauls
Here's the deal at the University of Georgia football coach and basketball Marcos bothnamed the coach and the coach of Georgia Tech football and basketball coach is named Paul. Do you understand?
Anyway, today, we will compare then all you have to decide. Mark & Marcos vs. Paul and St. Paul. They come as a package and can not be split. There is a poll created to see who wins, because what is the point of facing Georgia Tech and the University of Georgia against the other, if someone does not win.
Brands
Richt
Next a little more than a decade of disappointment at the hands of Ray Goff & Jim Donnan, Mark Richt arrived in Athens with two Heisman winners trained and formed part of two national championships. Quite the resume for a young coach. Vince Dooley and Michael Adams loved him, and soon the Georgia faithful to be. Richt quickly made his name in Athens by beating the Volunteers in Knoxville hated a play that can now be referred to as a start "nail" or its original name, the "P-44 Haynes." When a work has two nicknames, it means you've done something in Athens.
In his second season, Richt took the title back SEC to Athens with a crushing of Arkansas at the Georgia Dome in 2002, the first programs since 1982. Followed with a 26-13 victory over his former employer Florida State in the Sugar Bowl finish the season 13-1 and ranked 3rd in both surveys. Their actions broke out as Kelly Clarkson in a buffet.
Richt in 2003 the team returned to play for SEC title, but lost to LSU 34-13. The team still finished 11-3, including a victory over Purdue in the Capital One Bowl and a final Top 10. The Dawgs came 2004 ranked # 4 in the country. That season, Georgia posted a 10-2 record, including his first victory over Florida since 1997.
Year Next was the first time that Richt, his first without David Greene (who had become the winningest college quarterback ever, surpassing Peyton Manning). But Bulldawg Nation was excited, however, because DJ Shockley was adjusted to that and not a rollover. consecutive losses to Florida and Auburn ruined a dream season. The Dawgs LSU ended up playing for the SEC Championship, but were overcome by the play of Steve & Slayton White Sugar Bowl Pat.
After a rebuilding year In 2006, Matthew Stafford and Knowshown Moreno led Georgia to a 11-2 season in 2007 and a # 2 in the Final AP poll. UGA catapulting ranking # 1 to start the 2008 season.
The 2008 season began with images of Moreno and Stafford UGA stars everywhere. Both were projected to go high in the draft and Dawg fans were licking their lips for that elusive National Championship, the worst case scenario, the East was theirs. As the saying goes, is why they play the games. 2008 was the biggest disappointment since the end of the series Growing Pains.
2009 began the murmurs of firing Richt. After the disappointing 2008 season, fans Joe Cox of Georgia expects to meet expectations (mostly handed down by Richt & Bobo), and few could be loaded into the corridor, at worst, they had finished in the bottom 25. Obviously, this did not happen.
The Dawgs finished 8-5, but finished the season as Tech-state rival, a team ranked in the top 10. The defensive struggles on the season cost friend Willie Martinez, DC's UGA & Richt, his work. The victory over Tech was followed by an impressive victory over a bowl of Texas A & M, especially since the D was trained by a recruiter and two Graduate Assistants.
If not for a loss late to Kentucky, Georgia is 9-4 and finished the season in a five-game winning streak. Enough to keep fans of Georgia and speaks of a change of regime in the bay.
But frankly embarrassing losses to Florida have also begun to really start on the loyalty of fans to Richt. Losing one of its greatest opponents a combined 90-27 (which is, curiously, a record total of Richt at UGA) in two years it will. Seriously, though, that the statistics a little creepy.
Intro: Todd Grantham and his 3-4 defense. Grantham plans to confuse defenses with an endless variety of blitzes and falsification Georgia fans are just pleased that his name is Willie Martinez Jr. and hope that somehow distant relatives of Brian Van Gorder.
The people of Athens are just too excited about the performance of Mike Bobo, but Richt made his choice and Martinez fired. If the call does not get better offensive game this season, Bobo is the last record Richt can throw into the fire before it comes.
Despite speculation that Murray boot is the understanding I think it is a legitimate battle between him and Mettenberger. Murray will have a slight advantage throughout to win in the end, but it will be a good fight and Mettenberger can transfer at the end of the season (unless you want to coach but play one day).
Kiffin ruffled the order of things in the SEC East last year, and they left their job can be saved by keeping Richt UGA at the top level of the second level of division. (Florida is the only and distant, top-level team).
Richt needs to show fans his Success does not depend entirely on David (Greene and Pollack) and Van Gorder putting on a program of this year. That means winning the games that were supposed to win and annoying to some people on track, especially if they are rivals.
Fox
For the first time since taking over for Vince Dooley, AD Damon Evans had to make a significant coaching hire. After firing Dennis Felton, Evans was more to left field and Mark Fox hired from Nevada. Dawg fans in all parties were complacent? Do not make anyone happy or mad at anyone, so let's say you take it all in stride. A few months after work basketball and Georgia and deserves some attention.
The team began the conference program was about average, and again the Dawgs have a tendency to start the season against some soft competition (a complete juxtaposition to the football team). Then came a conference game, the part that eluded Felton.
Who hires a coach Nevada nothing? " Seriously, why even think Damon Evans Reno to find a basketball coach? He was there for water and a good Christian before going there for a coach basketball. Go to Snuff Alley and find an assistant before going to the desert for a head coach.
Due to the obvious lack of capacity of Georgia basketball program to win anything lately, recruits who agreed to attend UGA were sub-par. Fox has taken these performers below par, and transformed then a basketball team competition. His team played Georgia # 3 Kentucky to the wire (in Rupp Arena no less) and since then has beaten # 8 Tennessee at home.
Not only has the team shows some life in the win column, but have been putting UGA basketball on the national map. Travis, Leslie had a dunk both Kentucky and Tennessee in the game that made ESPN Top 10 plays. Not to mention the work of Trey Thompkins, Dustin Ware.
Fox has coached this team in some games closed against some good teams. What you have to do now is turn those close games in a few more wins before this season is out.
Dawg fans see it as a bit out with a hunchback with a good body and a pretty face, just get over that hump. If he can do that, it's time to turn those wins better recruits, then wash, rinse, repeat. Of course, if it were that simple, there would be several groups trying to get rid of Hewitt at this time.
Of course there is a buzz and excitement around Stegeman now, but what has he actually done? He has played some great teams and nearly won big games Technology and home to Tennessee. But that and $ 100 to get a seat on the upper levels in the first round of the tournament.
He almost hit some good equipment? A few weeks ago my uncle was an idiot almost DeLorean up to 88 SMP. He did not, therefore, he is now known as the inventor of the Rock and pets just pets Boot is not established.
Point being, is about to close is close. And close means failed. He had three good years in Nevada, his first three years. All this enthusiasm may be in vain, in a conference as tough as the SEC, especially in the NL East (where Kentucky, Tennessee, Florida and everyone has a advantage). Then again, winning in Georgia is definitely possible (just ask Tubby Smith and Jim Harrick), again, losing is just as easy if not easier (Ie, Ron Jirsa and Dennis Felton). Fox only has to maximize their early success, and sooner rather than later.
The Pauls
Johnson
Paul Johnson wasted no time making his mark in Atlanta. And its mark left its mark on Mark (get it?). After a disappointing 7-6 season under former head coach Chan Gailey, Tech fans have reason to be excited when Johnson left the Navy to reach Atlanta. His triple option offense had served him well in Statesboro and Annapolis, and supposedly safe as successful as you would in Atlanta.
He had a fiery start their first year by going 9-4 with an impressive victory to finish the season at UGA in Athens, in essence completely ruin a disappointing season for those already Dawgs while firing up the Tech fan base for 2009. The season included a 6-1 record at home, and a record of 4-2 against ranked teams (three of them in November). Not to mention a part of the Coastal title (though not enough to get into the ACC title game). Apart from a beating LSU in the Bowl Chick-Fil-A, it was obvious "Paul Ball" was catching on Peachtree Street.
Of course, expectations were high for 2009. The Jackets started season as the Preseason AP # 15. The ruin of Ramblin 'finally came to be at number seven in the AP poll. If not for a loss in the third game to a very hot Miami team, Tech enters the game against the Dawgs undefeated and ranked among the top five, definitely within shouting distance of the national title game.
But that's not what happened. Tech lost Washaun Ealey and Caleb King before taking care of Clemson in Tampa for their first ACC championship in the era of division and its first appearance in a BCS bowl game. However, against the Hawkeyes lost 24-14, but finished the season ranked in the top 15. In his only two seasons at Georgia Tech, Johnson has won two ACC Coach of the Year honors and has since been added as defensive coordinator Al Groh to shore up a very suspicious D.
Moreover, how can the # 7 team in the nation loses a unranked opponent at home? How two runners were allowed to control a complete set that way? Georgia launched only the ball 14 times and won a total of 339 yards rushing. On the positive side, Johnson wasted little time to get rid of Dave Wommack to solve the problem (unlike his counterpart in Athens that were kept in "Big Willie Style" like "Parents Just Do not Understand"). So obviously, he are here to do what is needed.
The main question hovering Tech at this time, as it is with all computers that run with a decoration unique crime, is when you find this option PED triple. It is almost inevitable, the regime crimes come-and-go, but great to learn to adapt. It has a few years more before the rest of the ACC recruits in place to stop the triple option.
That leaves the question of will it be able to adapt when other adjust their defensive scheme teams on the offensive. And no one can accurately predict that. But we must also bear in mind that what he has been doing, he has been doing with Chan Gailey recruits is. This thing could totally blow from the water once their children reach the city.
His assistant and players will still not looking up to ask why. Apparently you just follow this kind, says you're going to win and then he makes this possible. At least, that's the impression I have of the players and coaches.
Lastly, the relative weakness of the ACC this year to take anything away from the year Tech had? He won the ACC this year as being the hottest cheerleader for Duke? A Miami loss, a loss to their biggest rivals (although he was at home), and a loss for the Big Ten Champion are all quality losses, but the last two much damage and you never want to end a season with a losing streak. You need to win at the end of the year for recruits (especially against his rival in the state) and gives you something to build off of next year.
The kind of recruitment is lower than normal in this time, but just ask Charlie Weis to what extent recruitment suffering. For now, fans yellow jacket just wait the coaching staff can overcome to finish the season 1-2 in a race if they can do that, Tech football has a lot of good comes his way.
Hewitt
Hewitt came to Tech (through Siena) in 2000, after the 20-year career of Bobby Cremins. In his first years as head coach, Hewitt led Tech Tournament the NCAA with a 17-13 record (8-8 conference), but could not leave the first round. Tech chose to withdraw from the tournament next two years, from a years 15-16 and 16-15 the following before making some noise in March Madness 2004s.
Will Bynum tray late sealed the game against Oklahoma State and put them in the title game against the University of Connecticut (a game they lost 82-73). Next season, the team was 20-12 (8-8) and was expelled from the second round of tournament.
Two appearances in a row in the Tech fans hope was dance, and for good reason. After that, Jackets Hewitt, seemed rather to teams his first two seasons between 2003-2005. His record over the next four years was 57-63 (23-43), compared with 96-66 (37-43) in past 5 years. As of this writing, Hewitt has the Jackets 14-5 (3-3), and the number 22 in the polls. Not bad for a team that went 11-17 last year and won only two games of the conference.
Hewitt has had its ups and downs, but one thing that stands out as the most embarrassing of Atlanta Sports Statistics at the time (now that the Falcons have to win consecutive seasons) is the fact that debris has not won in Athens since the first year of the Carter administration. From Ole Goober, the Dawgs have fielded some horrible, easily beatable teams, but Tech still has not been able to overthrow the Dawgs in Athens. Statistics such as these lead web sites as FirePaulHewitt.wordpress.com .
And Paul Hewitt has not helped. His record against Georgia is due to the respectable victories at home, but seriously, beyond Georgia has been bad since Harrick left and you can not beat the Dawgs at home. I know it is a rivalry, but we man.
Hewitt teams have been good at best, never finished higher than third in the conference. However, he sent his boys to man in 2003-2004, and the man until he did. However, the amount of good publicity can get out of a great career. For Dennis Felton was half a season. Now Hewitt five years of goodwill. George Bush will tell you that you can only spend "political capital", as you have earned before the whole world turns on you.
With that said, is the past tense of Hewitt to build a little more credibility. With the Dawgs program crawling under Fox, and registration in the past years, Hewitt better than doing this season before the recruits who are been receiving from the area leaving for greener pastures in Athens. A record victories ACC this year means you get to at least finish his contract, but if things continue to improve in Athens while worsening in Atlanta, you'd better keep your resume updated.
