In a small 60 minutes, the University of Washington, the entire football program went from a prolonged negative impact since the departure of legendary coach Don James in 1993 to a positive impact when the Huskies opened their 2009 season against No. 11 ranking of Louisiana State University.

Don James is affectionately known as the "Dawgfather" on the campus of the U-Dub. He is the model for successful coaches at the University of Washington. James won 22 consecutive games from 1990 to 1992, a championship national, and took the Huskies to 6 Rose Bowl (4-2) and 15 bowl games (10-5) in 18 years.

His 153-57-2 record (a 72% winning percentage) is the standard by which all others are measured. When the Dawgfather speech, even 16 years after being an active coach, hundreds of people line up to listen carefully, and well they should. Fans greet him reverence and respect they have earned.

Sixteen years of not making the rules of football had Husky gone further tarnish the image of Washington as a year-Pac-10 contender and a national premiere of a sad, inexcusable 0-12 team last year. Clearly, change was not only the end, had become a life "and death" issue that was not going.

Enter the University of Washington President Mark Emmert and new Athletic Director Scott Woodward and "BAM!" "As Emeril Lagasse put spices in a recipe, the Huskies had a new coach, Steve Sarkisian and a new defensive coordinator and assistant head coach, Nick Holt. Both came from the University of Southern California program, where Sarkisian was the assistant head coach and offensive coordinator, and Holt was the defensive coordinator.

USC has been the most consistently successful football program in the country for the past 7 years. The Trojans have won at least 10 games per season in the last 7 years and have been in 7 consecutive BCS (Bowl Championship Series) game-winning 6 of 7 games of BCS, including National Wrestling Championship against Oklahoma in 2004. His only loss was to Texas BCS in 2005 National Championship Game.

Two consecutive seasons of 10 wins and the number of appearances in BCS are logs. Along with head coach Pete Carroll, Sarkisian and Holt were an integral part of the success of USC, and are now patrolling the field and the sidelines at Husky Stadium.

The doors that prevented key boosters, parents, fans and supporters to attend practice and participation Husky Husky in the nation under the old regime, was reopened. No more silence and not excluding as the brain trust of age in a systematic way the program leg almost beyond repair.

In through the doors flew open new enthusiasm, a new beginning, a new system and a new opportunity for the dirty and undisciplined large return to the fold. Now the former players and coaches are once again welcomed and encouraged to participate in the unity of the Huskies' for success.

The Huskies, who have endured 14 straight defeats, suffered another in his first game at home against LSU. But there was a clear difference: the Huskies won the battle of movement of the ball, but lost the war, 31-23, while very important step.

The LSU Tigers and his coaching staff and said he did everything right leading the kickoff, but inside were full of themselves spite of himself, all smart and arrogant, and willing to trample Huskies fool. But as Mark Twain once stated: "The news of his death has been greatly exaggerated."

The Tigers left Husky Stadium realize I had to do everything humanly possible to exit with a win. There would be singing on the flight back to Baton Rouge. Amen. Husky football is back with a roar, young talent, intensity and new hope for the excellent execution on every play.

Forget a description of the play-by-play of what happened when the No. 11-ranked Tigers LSU came to Seattle. Here's everything you need to know to realize the Huskies are back:

1) Washington received the opening kickoff and quickly moved through the field in 10 plays and 79 yards that culminated with a touchdown pass of 17 yards to James Johnson. Johnson, who is 6-0 and 193, is a true freshman. He had 6 receptions for 63 yards in his first college game.

2) Chris Polk picked up 90 yards on 21 carries for an average of 4.2 per carry, including a dissident 33 yards and runs for 12, 12, 9 and 9 meters. Polk, who is 5-11 and 210, is a freshman redshirt.

3) Changing Jake was 25-45 for 321 yards and 2 touchdowns, 17 yards, James Johnson and 9 yards to Kavario Middleton. Locker, which is 6.3 and 226, is a young man who is learning to be an NFL pocket passer in the new Sarkisian system. Locker is a threat running with speed, and picked up 51 yards on 12 carries, including runs to make first downs and keep drives alive.

Wardrobe was responsible for giving up points in the second unit of Washington in the evening. He rushed to cover in a lateral pattern and Tiger linebacker Jacob Cutrera intercepted the ball and returned it untouched for 29 yards and a defensive TD. After all, Wardrobe did well in his first attempt at a new system as a pocket passer of the NFL.

4) In addition to completing passes to James Johnson (reception 6 for 63 yards) and Kavrio Middleton (5 of 45), Cabinet also completed passes to 7 other receivers Devin Aguilar (4 receptions for 76 yards), Johri Fogerson (2 of 58), Chris Polk (2 for 34), Andres D'Goodwin (2 of 19), Jermaine Kearse (2 for 12) Jordan Polk (1 of 12), and Homer Paul (1 of 2). Wardrobe was going through his reads.

5) Homer is a high defense and Goodwin junior wide receiver, but others 5 receivers are sophomores throughout the Aguilar, Kearse and Chris Polk, Fogerson corridor, and tight end Middleton, while Jordan is a redshirt running back Polk first year, and Johnson is a true freshman. Ah, youth and talent.

6) new look Sarkisian offense LSU outgained by 157 yards, 428 to 321, and the Huskies ran 83 plays to 48 for LSU.

7) Sarkisian offense went beyond midfield and Tiger territory in 9 of 11 units. The Huskies moved the ball. Forgerson dropped the ball in one end zone that should have been a Husky TD, and Chris Polk did fumble at the Tiger line 5 yards on another drive. The Huskies are still young, still inexperienced and not making mistakes, but also put on a show that progress is spelled out on the road.

8) Five times the Huskies were in the red zone and had to settle for field goals and support a turnover. The LSU Tigers had to be trembling on the blocks, wondering if they could hold the fort, a varied attack.

The message is clear-Washington Husky football is back. Steve Sarkisian is to disseminate the field, you're getting a lot of players involved in the field, and he is not afraid to play young, talented players position immediately.
