College Football - Ed Bagley Top 25 Polls - Week 5

Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley

Only 13 teams remain unbeaten after 5 weeks game, and it is time to think seriously about raising some of them in my Top 25 picks, although most have played their weaker competitors. Some teams are already there, as Boise State. So here are Top 5 Week 25 picks:

1) Florida - lost time this week and remains in top of the stack. Let's see what happens when the No. 1 Gators travel to No. 4 LSU this week and goes with the Tigers. LSU is 4th in the AP poll this week and 13 in my poll this week.

2) Alabama - Beat Kentucky on the road. I kicked off my survey Mississippi after losing to South Carolina, and put the Gamecocks in the Top 25. I'm still fine with that. Alabama travels to Mississippi this week. If the rebels to disrupt the Red Tide is back in my survey. If Mississippi lost, left out. If Alabama bother-no excuses - they lose position in my survey.

3) Texas - lost time this week, but I am going from 4 to 3 in Iowa was so lame in its 125th-ranked 24-21 victory over Arkansas State.

4) Virginia Tech - Beat Duke (not much), but remains 5-0 and no one else is doing Diddly squat really.

5) Boise State - still undefeated and still have a signature victory over Oregon in the opening match. Travel to Tulsa this week 4-1. If not win, fall like a brick out of a 10-story building.

6) Oregon - Led a team of hapless Washington State 42-0 at the half and won 52-6. He now travels to UCLA faces and Slick Rick and his troops.

7) Ohio State - Buckeyes Hate to update because I hate Ohio State, is an innate thing because I am a graduate of the University State of Michigan. Buckeyes host Wisconsin this week, the toughest opponent they have seen since losing to Southern California.

8) Iowa - Hawkeyes host Michigan this week. They need to win against the Michigan Wolverines, he did.

9) Cincinnati - now 5-0 after beating a winless team Miami of Ohio. If teams like Cincinnati played in the SEC, the Bearcats lost 4 or 5 games a year.

10) South Carolina - People can crab on the Gamecocks, after all, his last victory was over 1-AA South Carolina State. I do not care, South Carolina is 4-1, beat Mississippi, and even the AP poll, finally led to the top at No. 25. Armies of Kentucky next.

11) Auburn - Not sure they deserve it, but still undefeated and won 5-0 Tennessee. Go to the next Arkansas.

12) Wisconsin - still got by Minnesota 5-0 on the road. The teams that win away league games to impress.

13) LSU - Georgia managed to win 20-13 and is 5-0. Hosts No. 1 Florida next. AP has them at No. 4, I remain unconvinced.

14) Kansas - Still 4-0, host Iowa State this week. They have no idea how good are the Jayhawks, but are 1 of the 13 teams still undefeated.

15) TCU - Hit SMU to go 4-0. Travel next Air Force, not exactly a big challenge.

16) USC - Southern Cal is now 4-1. The Trojans went to California and killed the Bears 30-3.

17) South Florida 5-0 now after beating Syracuse.

18) Missouri - now 4-0, one of 13 undefeated teams left. Armies of Nebraska this week, we should say much of Missouri and Nebraska.

19) Georgia Tech - now 4-1 after beating Mississippi State. Travel at Florida State this week, not sure that the Seminole team will be defending their own turf.

20) Miami (FL) - now 4-1 after upsetting No. 8 Oklahoma 21-20. I kicked my survey of Oklahoma last week. Now you know why.

21) Nebraska - now 3-1, lost to Virginia Tech 16-15 on the road. Travel to Missouri next; Bring It On.

22) Stanford - now 4-1 after beating UCLA. They also beat Washington. It is probably the second best team in the Pac-10 behind USC.

23) Pittsburgh - now 4-1 after dusting Louisville.

24) Notre Dame - now 4-1. Had to go on time extra to beat Washington. He has won last 3 games in the last 60 seconds of each game. He has given up an average of 30 points per game in his last 4 games.

25) Central Michigan - now 4-1 after beating Buffalo on the road.

I know, you're saying is Penn State, Oklahoma State, Tulsa, Utah, Mississippi, Brigham Young, Michigan, Houston, Georgia and Florida State. Well, they have to stop talking and start performing against good teams. It's bad enough that I Boise State in my top 25, one of them at once is enough.
