From college football to Major League Baseball, rivalries between teams have always added excitement the fan experience. Many teams are old rivals, while others have developed a competitive intensity more recently. What teams have been fighting for some time? Rivalries are at the heart of the lives of many fans. Here's a quick look at some of the classics.
College Football has some of the most talked about rivalries in all sports. For starters, you have the heated battles between the Texas Longhorns and Oklahoma Sooners. Be in neighboring states, which compete for regional bragging rights, and often the same recruits. Over the years, there have been many classic match-ups between two teams.
One of the greatest rivalries in college football history is 10 great powers of the State of Ohio and Michigan. These teams, which are usually recognized nationally, are so well adapted and competitive that the winner is often determined in the final minutes, and sometimes the final seconds of the contest. Consequently, when these two teams play, the game often determines which remains in the national championship picture and it is out.
The South has tough competition between tides and the Auburn Tigers Alabama Crimson. Since the days of legendary Alabama coach Bear Bryant that has been one of the most talked about fighting on the grid. Both schools are in the same state and are highly competitive with every other year after year. There have been many close, very close games over the past century to prove it. Volunteers Tennessee also have an active rivalry with these two teams, but nothing compares to the legendary hard-fought battles between the Tigers and the Crimson Tide.
In west coast, is the University of Southern California (USC) and University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA) rivalry. This competition has been dominated recently by the success of Southern California and the strong teams that have taken place in the last two years. Recently USC has led the field with the winners of the Heisman Trophy Matt Leinhart and Reggie Bush, giving the Trojans the edge. This coming year we can see a change in power UCLA to reach the forefront.
National Basketball Association has had the classic battles of the Lakers and Celtics. For decades, these two teams battled back and forth to determine who would take home the NBA crown. There were the great duels in the 60 and 70 of Wilt Chamberlain and Bill Russell, who are legendary in the history of the NBA.

Those who follow the ACC certainly recognize the high-profile competitions that have defined their rivalry. The Duke Blue Devils and North Carolina Tar Heels are synonymous with well-known games, some of which have won and others who have lost.
Off the court, these two teams fight to try to recruit some of the most talented players in the nation. The Tar Heels and Blue Devils often court the same players, coaching staff with just each other for the best players available. NCAA National Championships are the hallmark of these two schools. If you like the excitement and college basketball hardcore at its best, the Duke and UNC are your ticket.
Major League Baseball which is perhaps the greatest rivalry in all sports. New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox have battled each other on the diamond since the twentieth century. Rivalry heated in 1920 when the Red Sox sold the best game player, Babe Ruth, the New York Yankees. Since then, the Yankees dominated the rest of Major League Baseball, winning 26 World Series, while Boston, after Ruth party failed to capture a single crown.
Some people began to call Boston's championship drought of the "curse of the Bambino." The trade of Babe Ruth, who was also known as the Bambino "," was reportedly why Boston could not win a championship. But all that changed in 2004 when the Boston Red Sox were able to return in three games in the American League Championship Series and defeat the New York Yankees, and then go to sweep the St. Louis Cardinals in the World Series.
This is what Red Sox fans had been waiting and now they are hoping you never have to hear about "the curse" again. This has been one heck of a rivalry over the years and the odds are to remain one of the best in the sport.
When there is an intense rivalry between two teams that always magnified by the enthusiasm of the fan. Fans are what make two teams to compete against each other harder, but it takes exciting, hard fought matches to reach fans interested. Most large rivalries are not built in one or two good games, but over decades of excellent games.
There are a number of games that teams must play to create a rivalry. Fans and players together are the ones who decide what makes a constant rivalry, classical. But one thing is certain, there is nothing better than watching two rivals evenly matched fight until only one remains standing.
