Coaches Lead Teams to Greatness

The sports department at any university is important. Prestigious universities invest so much to explore potential athletes that will bring victory to his team. Some even observed athletes of different high schools in search of sports talent.

However, the discovery of university athletes does not depend only browsers. Most successful athletes have to prepare and prove they are worthy of being part the computer you want to join. They have to be ready for testing in order to draw the attention of his superiors and trainers.

The success of athletic teams is in the hands of the athletes alone. Coaches play an important role in the success and failure of the team. Many schools fire their coaches because of bad rating team. There are also those who name their stadiums and fields after coaches in gratitude.

Sports coaches recognize in general. When the mountaineers of West Virginia received the Lambert-Meadowlands Trophy, the records do not mention the names of athletes who were part of the team. They include the name head coach in place.

Going back to the football team University of West Virginia coach Don Nehl is among the best. His induction into the College Football Hall of Fame showed his greatness. Before becoming one of the best coaches, was a quarterback at Bowling Green State University. After that, he coached the bowling.

Then West Virginia coached for 20 years, from 1980-2000. He received several awards that recognized him as one of the best coaches around. In 1988, he received three awards, Coach Year AFCA, Bobby Dodd Coach of the Year and Walter Camp Coach of the Year. During his tenure, he led the Highlanders to the 1993 Big East Conference championship. In the same year, became the Big East Coach of the Year and Kodak Coach of the Year.

When he retired Nehl, coach Rico Rodriguez replaced him. Nobody would be more appropriate for the job because Nehl has been helping coach in 1985 and 1986. He led the team to four championships in the Big East Conference, including three consecutive titles in 2003, 2004 and 2005. During these years, also received the Big East Coach of the Year. After they won the Big East Conference in 2005, won the Nokia Sugar Bowl, defeating the Georgia Bulldogs.

Although Rodriguez left West Virginia Highlanders after the season 2007, remains one of the greatest coaches that the team has had.
