How bad does it look to the universities if you play a freshman year students of the sport, and let the second year?

Playing ninth grade football, but I really do not want to play anymore. I want to go to a good school, but how bad this hurt my chances? Also set basketball during the winter, and I will continue that, and I am the club FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America). my first year average was 3.85 I know that universities want to see the commitment, but I'm not sure if I want to play. What do I have to do to ensure a better chance of being accepted by colleges?
