college football lsu schedule
A question about LSU and who deserves to be no. 1?

Well, I am a college football fan and I was just wondering if anyone else had an opinion on the title game. There were a lot of two loss teams to choose from, and LSU got the nod. Lots of people say its because they are from the SEC and because they lost in overtime. However, lets face it, Arkansas was a one-dimensional offense. How was it able to put up 50+ points on LSU's defense? Should a team that allows that kind of scoring be in the title game?

I mean, the most points USC had scored on them this season was Nebraska with 31, are things like that taken into consideration? Plus, their schedule is sprinkled with the likes of Tulane, Lousiana Tech, and Middle Tennessee, who aren't exactly "top noctch". I would just like to hear some opinions. Thanks!

You have to look at all the facts, not just the ones you cherry pick to make LSU look bad.

21 of the points were in the triple overtime; therefore only 29 of the points were in regulation play; less than the 31 you state. And both of LSU's starting defensive tackles and their starting middle linebacker was out with injuries.

At least Arkansas was a ranked team at the time, unlike 4-8 Stanford.

You fail to mention the 7 top 20 teams LSU faced during the year. I bet you can't find one team in the country that didn't have three or more games against lesser competition. I count six on USC's schedule.

Based on strength of schedule LSU deserves to be there.
