College Football Opening Day Schedule

Why schools and schools deal Friday like a "sacred" day?
Throughout elementary school and to school secondary, we have never had any after school activities scheduled for Friday. We had soccer practice after school at 5:30, except Fridays. There was never a practice of any sport on Friday. This was the same in middle school and high school. Baseball practice, practice, band, basketball, football, volleyball, whatever - there is no practice on Fridays. Now, in college, our university closes early every Friday, at about 1:00 pm. There are no classes on Fridays night. We have a study room that is open in the evenings from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm Monday through Thursday. As usual, we do not meet on Fridays. The school also closes early at 3:00 pm the day before Thanksgiving or Christmas or Spring Break vacation. But why is it on Friday the "sacred"?
Because it is right next weekend and most people do not put much effort / not attend as many meetings as they are too busy looking forward to the late week.
