College Football Opening Lines

Do you think Big Tens Com. Jim Delany's comments about players being thugs SEC and unfit for the Big Ten racist?
Pers Jim Delany. Big Ten sent an open letter this past week which has emerged from the SEC accused of recruiting players who were "non-standard Big Ten. In a surprising" open letter the fans, "the most powerful person in college athletics attacked SEC football players, especially those with" speed "in a statement loaded with social stereotypes. For Miles, the assertion that their fast players are, by Big Ten standards, not academic or social fits (essentially dumb thugs) is so absurd as it is insulting. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he played for Bo Schembechler icon and later spent 10 seasons as an assistant. Now he is in his third year at LSU, giving perspective. Jim Delanys comments have crossed the lines of college football and the attacks on university students on a level personal. Do you think that this man still remain in the most powerful job in college football. And you see the racisim that is woven into this statement?
I think it's a very sad commentary. Delany I think the comments are racist and inappropriate. I have lived in the South and Midwest and we firmly believe that the South is much more integrated the center-west of the primary school to university. It is the "Delany" superior attitude that perpetuates this covert segregation that exists in the Midwest. There is no desire to "integrate" the people he considered to be academically and / or socially inferior. The problem is that neither he nor many of the people living in the Midwest, even acknowledge that his views are racist and that this problem exists. The truth is that when this separation exists in the communities (and failing schools public), lower income areas do not have the resources to support quality football programs. This is an opportunity loss for students and athletes in these communities. Just an observation - but in the same line - why is that most of the top prospects of minorities leaving the central region come from private schools? Chew that one for a while. Having said that - Jim Delany's comments seem to be a lame excuse and inadequate - and I do not even believe it's true. Michigan Ohio and other states are actively recruiting in the South. If a player is a perspective Top100 the Big10 going after these players. The talent pool is not as deep in the Middle West because many school districts do not have the resources to devote to the quality of sports programs.
