college football overtime record
USC and LSU 2 Losses????/?

I know college football goes on the notion of the rankings and opponent toughness to decide between 2 loss teams. My question is if 2 losses are 2 losses in any other sport why does it matter how you lost. LSU claims they only lost in overtime but just like USC they lost twice and it will be in the record books forever that each time had two losses, not who they lost to or how they lost.

Why does LSU get the benefit of the doubt over USC when both had two losses and LSU lost later in the season?
My question is why does it matter so much who you lost to rather than the fact that you actually lost 2 games. 2 loses in the L column are there forever not who you lost the game to, their rankings and the score.
Does the fact that the SEC Commissioner is the chairman of the BCS matter?
USC losing to stanford regardless of the point spread will never be as big as Appalachian state beating Michigan.

SEC comissioner is the chairperson of the bcs thats why! obviously it does, LSU lost way to late in the season for them to have been in the championship game. and they jumped 4 spots to get there by beating a mediocre Tennessee team. IF it isn't because of the commisioner, id can't understand how.
