BCS Breakdown

Everything has fallen into place and the Big Ten will have their dream match this coming Saturday, when Michigan Wolverines travel to Columbus to take on the Ohio State Buckeyes. These are two of the four undefeated teams left in Division-IA and the winner gets a bid to the BCS title game in Glendale, Arizona. These are the two best teams in the polls, computers, and Harris Rankings - all of which comprise the current BCS ranking. The Buckeyes come into this game around one touchdown favorites and have looked more impressive then Michigan from beginning to end. This number also reflects the success of the last coach Coach Jim Tressel against Buckeye coach Lloyd Carr has beaten Michigan four times in five attempts and is far from what it was when John Copper coach in the Horseshoe.

That said, let's look at the seven best teams in the BCS standing and their likelihood of doing so in the championship game on Jan. 8. Teams are evaluated based on the standing current BSC after completion of the games on 11 November.

1) Ohio State Buckeyes - My choice of pre-season to win everything has been done nothing to disappoint so far. They've played in hostile environments, such as Austin and the City of Iowa and won impressive victories outbreak. A win at home and to have the security of a place in the championship final. A loss to Michigan and there is still a chance that could get into the BCS title game, but the higher percentage would work a trip to the Rose Bowl. The other conferences would frown on a title game rematch where both teams come from the same conference.

2) Michigan Wolverines - The season began with Lloyd Carr under fire, but an early season win in South Bend was the validation of equipment and have yet to resign that. A victory in Columbus would mark a 12-0 record and a trip to Glendale. A loss in Columbus and is very likely that they would represent the Big Ten in the Rose Bowl for the third time in four years. Only opportunity they would be put back in the title game is that both Notre Dame and finished with 11-1 themselves and all the other records of the PAC-10 and SEC had two losses. It would be hard to choose Notre Dame over Michigan Wolvernines considering what the Irish did in the south Bend in September.

3) Southern Cal Trojans - The Trojans are in the best way classification taking into account the two teams ahead of them play each other this week. They will be able to keep out of Florida in the classification taking into account the three games left on their schedule will come up against formidable opponents. If can complete this trifecta will be invited to Glendale. The problem is that any of these three teams (California, Notre Dame, UCLA) can loosen them a second defeat. The one thing holding back may have suffered a bad loss to Oregon, but that was quickly forgotten by beating California and Notre Dame.

4) Florida Gators - Everyone seems to be accumulating in the Gators this week to close its called the swamp against former coach Steve Spurrier. That said, a win is a win and if he can win Florida to have finished 12-1 in what many believe is the toughest conference in the nation. It needs some help in order to reach the title game. Reproduction of Western Carolina and Florida State should fall well short of USC in the computers and thus be unable to capture if both ended up with just one defeat. The Sugar Bowl is likely to call them by name.

5) Our Lady of Ireland - The team everyone loves or hates follows wins out after a start to the season against Michigan hiccups. The Irish are almost assured of a BSC Bowl game but the way the championship is not that promising. Will difficulty moving past No. 4 in the classification and therefore will require the human factor plays a role if they have visions of Arizona. Another factor working against them is that both Michigan and Ohio State beat Notre Dame in the last year.

6) Rutgers Scarlet Knights - Rutgers is one of three undefeated teams in conference play BCS and after this week probably in one of two teams left. This team is probably a double-digit losing against West Virginia, so more than likely be left out of the discussion and the fall of the Top Ten. If you happen to pull the upset, they would have a case to represent in Glendale, but still probably not going to happen. They scheduled too weak in the nonconference part of the season and have had too long of a way up through of the standings. The best we can hope for is a split national title, winning the AP poll.

7) Arkansas Razorbacks - The Hogs have been numerous impressive victories and should be made with the SEC West with a victory against Mississippi State this weekend. They have the ability to move up in classification and they still have LSU and Florida on the schedule. If they can finish the season 12-1, they could jump to the top if USC and Notre Dame each suffers another loss. They should not jump USC case if both end up with one loss considering the beating that took place in Fayetteville to open the season.

These are the seven teams competing for a chance for the National Championship. All are valid reasons, but only the top three teams control their own destiny. All four teams need help and in the case of Rutgers, which may still not be enough.

Doc's has had a tremendous year in college football and wants to come on board. This week we will go with our "Senior Game of the Year Day "which has a national team that will go in style. For this work to register for one of our many football packages.
