College Football Rankings Week 4
Who else hates the pre-season polls!?
I think you should have no say polls until after Week 4 in College Football. Of course this would never happen because of the PR that comes with these surveys. However, it skews the actual rank. It is important because many surveys BCS computer uses to take into account items classified equipment along. So to beat someone ranked in week 1 and get extra points Danial: I think to lose the end is more important to lose early. The teams earlier this year may not actually be playing to their potential, not enough practice time gaming, etc.
polls before the season, or indeed the elections should not be given much consideration to the four or five weeks have been played. Of these, too is only a game. In the first week of the season, Oregon, which ranked # 14 at the time, going on the road to play # 16 Boise St. and loses. Fall from the top 25 because of that loss, but over the next three weeks, play and beat # 18 Utah (at the time) and then # 6 Cal at home and blow out and improve to 3-1, and now are falling back inside the top 25. The same can be said of Iowa, who began the season ranked # 21, and the first week block FG to beat two Division II of Northern Iowa, and because of that, they fall out of 25. Over the next couple of weeks, defeated two BCS conference schools (Iowa St., Arizona) and then go on the road and beat # 5 Penn St., and only now return to the top 25. You can not say that only now, Oregon and Iowa are proving to be a top 25 team. Once again, the surveys are given how much thought, and even after four weeks of the season has past, I do not think anyone can give a legitimate response in that top 5 teams really are. Most of the teams currently ranked in the top 25 have yet to play anyone.
