College Football September 26

Is it too late to become a football coach?
I have 25 years in the Army. I am currently set for release in September 2009 that will be 26 at that time. I have still 2 years left college when I get up and a wife and children. I will start volunteering as a coach summer for a local high school, wondering is this too late to start? I have a lot of knowledge and understanding of the game (played in the school secondary). I started reading books on training to prepare for spring. But to be 25 and starting at the bottom will be quite difficult. When you leave I'll have to go to school work and the coach to keep things running. I can not afford to finish school and then start training due to my age. If anyone has any advice that would be great. If someone could give me a pay scale or experience when they were starting out would be great. I do not mind paying my dues, but I am concerned that not a chance because of my age.
I think we can work something out with the team because you are young and seem to know much about the game. Good luck on your career coach and I hope you get home safely and thank you for serving our country. You are a true hero.
