How to deal with a family wetblanket?

My family is a group of wetblankets and never want to do anything fun. The parents of my boyfriend wants me to go home during the holidays as I did last year and my family did not think it will be fun. I have football tickets and my parents think it's a waste of time. It seems that everything I do have something negative to her, just because they do not. I really want to be accepted for being myself and not have to deal with them is considered negative for everything I do. Any ideas?
