college football tv ratings
Why all this outcry for a college football playoff?

College football has prospered for 100 years without a playoff. A National Champion is mythical even with a playoff. You would probably have to play a best 4-7 games to see who is really the best team. Any team can win on any given day. If you had a playoff, people would beotch about seedings, home field, and many other problems. Fans wouldn't be able to go to a bunch of neutral games. It would be a mess.
I watch almost all of the games. I can tell who the best teams are. The BCS usually gets it right anyways. If you look up who is doing most of the beotching, it is usually the fans of the teams that didn't quite make it that year. Agree?

P.S. I would like to see all the games based on rankings though. No more Ohio State/Notre Dame types getting in over more deserving teams just because they get high TV ratings and bring tons of fans. And no limits on how many from any one conference or automatic bids either.

I agree on some of your points. You can please some people some of the time but you can never please all people all of the time. I still think a playoff would help determine a true champion more than our current system. At least then you can give your Utahs a shot at beating a major team and get to the NC, and if they don't make it through the playoff system, well then we know they weren't worthy. And since for the foreseeable future we are keeping the BCS, I agree about changing it to no limits on conference appearances and no more tie ins. I'd like to see the top ten play in the BCS bowls against other quality opponents... no stupid sh!t like VT/Cincy this year in the Orange Bowl. When you have that it makes the 'prestigious' bcs game more like the San Diego Credit Union Poinsettia bowl.
