College Football Uf Schedule

Is Florida a worthy number one?
I saw a Rivals.com article about UF going to a no huddle offense.
Why bother?
Florida plays two ranked opponents for the entire season (Georgia, LSU) and four non-conference games, three of which are against teams who have no business playing major college football (Troy, Florida International and Charleston Southern).
I'll agree that Florida has the weapons to compete with anyone but if you don't compete with the best how can you claim to be the best? How about a few non-conference games against FBS teams with a track record for winning?
I realize the schedule is made several years in advance but seriously Troy? Florida International? Charleston? Why not a PAC-10 team? or someone from the Big10 or Big12? The athletic department at UF did itself no favors by putting three patsies on the schedule. Even if they run the tables and do it convincingly, can you really call them number one when they schedule preseason numbers sixty-six, ninety-two and an FCS sacrificial lamb?
Florida isn't claiming anything official. The AP and USA Today pollsters are claiming it. Why not a PAC 10, Big 10, or Big 12 team? Because the AP and USA Today pollsters think Florida's better.

What the hell does the BCS have to do with it? The BCS doesn't even get involved until the middle of October. I see you've jumped on the latest bandwagon, no early rankings.
