college football umd
With my academic record as a transfer student, will I be able to get into the University of Maryland?

I probably should have just applied to UMD while I was a senior in high school because I had better grades, but i opted to go to cc to save money. I graduated with a 3.2 gpa, and a 1640 sat score. I was on the varsity crew team and football team, and played jv soccer as a freshman. I'm in my freshman year at a community college and ended up with a 2.67 for the fall semester but am doing much better now in the spring. Do i have a chance of getting in UMD?
Maryland isn't so bad, it was ranked in the top 10 national public universities by US news.

While a 2.7 semester doesn't look too strong now, a 4.0 for this spring semester will give you a total GPA of 3.33 after a year at community college -- not bad. Another semester at that rate will give you a GPA of 3.56.

While right now you may not have the grades to transfer, one or two great semesters at community college may be all it takes to get into Maryland.

I hope you get a chance to attend UMD -- it is a great school and is one of the best in the country.
