College Baseball: History and rules

The popularity of college sports in the United States has made a college athletic scholarship which many high school students aspire. Many students with talent in baseball is concerned about his chances of playing for baseball teams of the university.

One of the first known baseball team was the New York Knickerbockers, formed by Alexander Joy Cartwright. And the September 23, 1845 in accordance with its constitution and statutes, the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club was officially established. In 1846 Daniel "Doc" Adams was elected president of the Knickerbockers. Two years later he went to the Commission to revise the Constitution, Cartwright serving with him. "Doc" Adams, as he called, was elected president after the first Base Ball Convention in 1857. He also chaired the Committee on Rules and Regulations, who was instituted the new regulations, such as equal to a nine-inning complete game, five innings same for a complete game, 30-meter distance between the four bases, the distance should throw 45 feet and also stated that nine men should have the equipment.

With better-defined rules and with the success of the convention 1857, the game became increasingly popular. Subsequent conventions attracted more teams. The Civil War caused membership decline, but also helped to introduce the game in the southern parts of the United States. The composition of the National Association of Base Ball Players grown to over 300 members in 1867.
