It is one thing fun on the winners, who never has to advertise, that are advertised. That's exactly what happened when the University of Washington coaches and players came into the light of sun for the first time in 22 months, beating Idaho 42-23 in Husky Stadium in Seattle.
For the Husky faithful are reminded Perry Como sing again, the blue skies I've seen were in Seattle. "
Rising from the ashes of a 0-12 nightmare season, Washington played the 7th ranked LSU Tigers on their first drive game of the season, only to lose 31-23. The 136th-ranked Idaho Vandals in Moscow (Idaho, not Russia) drew the ire of Washington's final exit from scratch.
With new coaches, players a new and rejuvenated recently, the Huskies scored touchdowns on their first possessions 5-minus a fumble on the kickoff 2nd half.
Junior quarterback Jake Locker, the most talented and versatile player in Washington, won for the first time in career 3-yard opening drive. That marked the offensive tone of the evening, then completed a 24-yard box to talent touchdown pass Johri Fogerson second runner, a 31-yard TD to rookie sensation Receiver James Johnson, and a 2-yard TD to tight end Chris Izbicki sophomore.
Washington also scored on a 1-yard run by freshman red shirt years and fast sense of Chris Polk, Johri and another score on a Fogerson 2-yard run. Yes, the Huskies have some great young talents. The Huskies were 11-of-14 third minimized.
Wardrobe, which is used to being a pocket passer head coach Steve Sarkisian offense went 17-of-25 for 253 yards and 3 touchdowns. Locker completed passes to 9 different receivers. You tell me if Locker is getting the hang of being a future NFL pocket passer.
The ever so sweet victory for the Huskies ended a 15-game winning streak dating to a victory over California in November 2007.
Unfortunately, the defensive coordinator Nick Holt was nearly hoarse shouting at his defenders at the foot of the line. Idaho, which is not as good of a team, moved the ball at will against Washington, accumulating 412 offensive yards for the Huskies' 374. The vandals also scored 2 touchdowns and 3 field goals on drives stopped. If field goals were 3 touchdowns, Washington would be in serious trouble. It was evident, however, that Washington would score a touchdown for each score of Idaho.
Finally, Sarkisian felt safe enough to put in some reserves, and the Vandals are added his second TD with 13 seconds left. Now that Washington has won again, and looks set to win again this season, Sarkisian has noted that his Huskies won, but did not cover-trust me when I say that boosters noted the lack of coverage.
If the "Sark" let your top guys score once more before pulling them, the reserves could Husky have abandoned the last TD vandalism and Washington-a 21-point favorites, there may still be covered.
A defensive gem should not be overlooked-junior interception linebacker Mason Foster and the return of 56 yards that are installed Chris Polk 1-yard score fall to give Washington a 28-9 advantage. Mayor linebacker EJ Savannah is leading the team with 19 tackles in 2 games, senior linebacker Donald Butler has 14 tackles.
Steve Sarkisian world comes full circle on Saturday when 3rd classified Southern California invades Husky Stadium with his own sense of freshman, QB Matt Barkley, who led a last-minute, 14-play touchdown 86 yards on the way to beat the 11th ranked Ohio State 18-15.
As a critic of an official of the State of Ohio, was good to see the Buckeyes fall of his party in line 6 to a Top 5 team, including two national championship games and a 35-3 romp of last year's USC in Los Angeles. Gotta love the Buckeyes, who have increased the big games to drop an art form.
Sarkisian left USC last year as his assistant head coach and offensive coordinator. When he left Southern California, took the defensive coordinator Nick Holt with him. USC Pete Carroll, coach, mentor Sarkisian, apparently has no ill will.
One thing is for sure is USC-Idaho, and the Trojans could get easily 7 times against the defense Husky. What could it interesting that Sarkisian offense could only score of 7 to change. Let's start the fight Dawg. They did not call these new Huskies Dawgs all.
