College Football - Ed Bagley Top 25 Poll - Week 6

Copyright © 2009 Ed Bagley

College Football sixth week of competition was full of surprises for the four teams that lost their unbeaten status, and the other major college teams learned why Florida started the season atop the polls and keeps on top after the sixth week of play.

The following is this week for the Top Ed Bagley 25 Rating:

1) of the Florida - LSU travels to No. 4 and their strong defense and offense tibia and won 13-3. Now you know why the Gators are No. 1 and LSU slips into this survey.

2) Alabama - Mississippi travels to No. 20 to comply with the "Golden Arm" Jevan Snead, who threw 4 interceptions as the Red Tide won 22-3. Once again, gone again. Ole Miss I'm kicking my survey.

3) Virginia Tech - I thought it was lame in Iowa and now is worse than Texas. The appearance more serious Hokies Iowa and Texas combined.

4) Oregon - He lost his first game of the season and then got religion. Beat Utah, California won 42-3, 52-6 beat Washington State at UCLA and now started on the road-24-10.

5) Ohio State - Beat Wisconsin 31-13 undefeated. Have limited their last 4 opponents 27 points combined.

Things get really murky from here on in the poll. So many of the following teams winning so weak in weak teams it is too difficult to see who else is a competitor or a suitor.

6) Texas - probably has more talent than Boise State, but only could beat a Colorado team 1-5 in 2 points, while giving away 28 points. How can it be really good for Texas? You can not classify the Longhorns more than 6, and gift is a must win.

7) Boise State - idle this week, travel to Tulsa next.

8) Southern California - idle this week, traveling to Notre Dame next.

9) Cincinnati - Idle this week, travel to South Florida next.

10) Iowa - Do you have at Michigan, but not by much. Journey Wisconsin next.

11) LSU - Have a week to recover before facing Auburn.

12) South Florida - Undefeated TCU and as deserving as or Kansas. Host Cincinnati following a big problem for the Bulls and coach Jim Leavitt.

13) Nebraska - From acting as a team better than TCU and Kansas.

14) TCU - Another lame victory, this time by the Air Force by 3.

15) Kansas - Another insanely lame win by 5 years of the state of Iowa while lose 36 points. How long can remain unbeaten in Kansas? My guess? Not much. Pathetic face a Colorado team that comes and real-time Oklahoma.

16) Miami (FL) - Beat a 1-AA team. Calendar get any easier than pie.

17) Oklahoma State - Won by 5 parts of Texas A & M at the same time lose 31 points.

18) Brigham Young - Go to 5-1 by crushing UNLV 59-21.

19) Georgia Tech - Go to 5-1 by surviving Florida State 49-44. Hosts Virginia Tech next luck, good speed and God.

20) Pittsburgh - now 5-1 after beating Connecticut 24-21. Almost no big deal, but there are some very little impressive in anyone's Top 25 these days.

21) Notre Dame - inactive this week. Host Southern California to come.

22) South Carolina - Go to 5-1 by slipping past 28-26 Kentucky. Trips to Alabama next. Yikes! can easily get home at 5-2.

23) Central Michigan - now 5-1 after ripping the worst team in the nation-Eastern Michigan-56-8. You tell me a better 5-1 team in the country. No, Penn State, I am not sure they can beat Central Michigan. Penn State will play matches against teams like very queer.

24) Idaho - now 5-1 playing the hardest schedule 62nd in the nation. The Vandals are no longer a doormat with coach Robb Akey. Idaho was 2-10 last year and has traditionally been one of the weakest teams in the nation. Actually, no play a decent team to Boise State on the road, but at least I reward genuine effort and progress.

25) Penn State - My contempt for the Nittany Lions do not know limits. Jo Pa would play grandmothers of their opponents if they could get their way. Paterno JV college teams played at home just to build another "great" victory for Happy Valley.

Who I've left out? Whoever it is, let them do something that is noticed. You do not need any talent to get the smoke and not take any talent to lose. Win and win big and I'll put the team in my poll, until then, let the AP poll and Coaches Poll reward teams lame a popularity contest, I just call some equipment so they are "lame in the victory, full of excuses in defeat.
