college football voters
Who selects the AP poll voters in college football? How do you get chosen?

Funny, how my question brought up a completely different issue. Just wanted to know who selects the press voters.

I know how the BCS system works and it is the best thing because it makes all 13 games you played during the season meaningful. The problem is selecting the correct two teams to play for the NC. The +1 system is not a step towards playoffs. All it is is just a way of allowing two more sometimes undeserving teams into a BCS bowl to soothe the critics of the system.
Bill78: The BCS rankings don't come up until week 7 or 8. I would think all 120 teams would have played at least 6 games by then. If you're talking about all those preseason rankings that influence the coaches' poll, fine I agree.

You're an ignorant moron. The AP poll has nothing to do with the BCS. Do you actually know what the BCS is or did you just jump on the anti-BCS bandwagon?

Once again, you show your ignorance. The BCS doesn't even have a poll until the 8th week of the season when it then recognizes the results of the Harris Interactive, USA Today Coaches Poll, and the computer polls. The Harris and USA Today polls are not owned by the BCS. They do their own thing and are recognized by the BCS. The BCS doesn't recognize the AP Top 25 poll.

What would you like explained? The polls were never any different. What's your solution?

The AP choses it's own voters.

The Plus 1 solves nothing because the proposal basically use the same methodology to chose those teams. The same cries and whines will continue. Other than a playoff, I can't think of a better way to chose who plays in the NC except to grant the two berths to the #1 and #2 teams in some kind of poll arrangement, like it is now. I would like to see the computer rankings eliminated though. There's several problems with a playoff. Every year there's much crying and complaining about the playoffs from D1 FCS, D2, and D3. With the domination of sports news by D1, those complaints don't make the news.

The current bowl system is too entrenched to expect a playoff anyway.
