The swamp is known as one of the loudest stadiums in college football and all sports in the area. El Pantano legally known as Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is the home of the Florida Gators, who in recent years have become a national power in the world of college football. They have become possibly the biggest college football team dominant in the last 15 years and are perennial national champion favorite.

Florida was a respectable team since its inception in 1906, but never won the national respect that the school had longed Gainesville since its entry into the Southeastern Conference in 1932. But everything changed in 1990 when the team hired former Heisman Trophy quarterback and former student of Steve Spurrier to lead the team to the dominance they have both craved.

Little is known of Florida the monster they created when they hired Spurrier visor launch to take charge of your program. Spurrier made the program in one of the most successful and feared program in the nation. In fact, since 1990 the team is the winningest program in all of college football, a great feat considering the amount of talent and parity in college football during this period of time.

It did not take time for Florida to improve its status as a great football team win a conference championship in 1991, a trend that would continue for the foreseeable future. Florida played in the first game of the SEC Championship in 1992 but lost to eventual national champion Alabama in this game. However, the conference and the nation had been put on notice that the Gators will come to stay in the countrys elite teams.

From 1993-1996 the team played in every game SEC Championship and won all of them claiming four straight conference titles, a feat that has not been repeated so far by any team in the SEC. These four years are considered by some experts as the most successful of any college football program over the past 25 years. The team not only won conference titles, but also did so in a dominant fashion.

These years culminated with the first dominant schools National Championship in 1996, being led by the nations number one offense anchored by quarterback Heisman Trophy winner Danny Wuerffel. The team won the National Championship by easily defeating Florida State, which had defeated earlier in the season, but were able to avenge that loss in the state by beating their rivals 52-20 in the Bowl Sugar. The team played well and win two more championships before the conference, Spurrier resigned in 2001 to pursue his dream of coaching in the NFL.

Following the unexpected exit of the team Spurrier replaced him with assistant coach Ron Zook NFL, who would bring the program back to the mediocrity that experienced before Spurrier took the helm. Zook was only last three years and was fired during the 2004 season and the school appeared headed to a free fall that no one can help them recover.

However, Athletic Director Jeremy Foley hired Urban Meyer to take over the program and the team returned and has even surpassed the success they had in the 90s. Urban Meyer, who has coached the team since 2005 has led the team to two national championships in four years and the team returned to the top the soccer scene and look about to continue its dominance in the coming years.
