College Football Postseason?

Well, I know there are a lot of people out there who would like to see a postseason out there for D1A College Football. I recently saw an article, I believe in Yahoo Sports, about a hypothetical postseason for college football, appropriately dubbed "December Delirium". Eight teams would play in the quarter finals, which would be the Holiday, Fiesta, Orange, and Capital One Bowls. The four winners would advance to the semifinals, the Cotton and Sugar Bowls. The two winners would play in the NC game, the Rose Bowl (appropriate, since it is the grandaddy of all college Bowl games). I like this idea, since it gives more teams a shot at the NC (though then you have the issue of how to pick and rank the top 8 for the brackets) and it increases the odds that the best team will be the NC (though the NC game may still not necessarily be 1 vs 2). I was wondering what other people's opinions about this are.

Use the current ratings for 1 thru 8 and everyone can stop whining. If you can't be rated that high then you obviously aren't being left out. The current system may implode if a few scenarios play out. Say Michigan loses to OSU and ND wins out, they may be ranked higher than Michigan with identical records and Michigan blew them out. Now using that logic I don't mean that Oregon State deserves the National title game over USC but Michigan will have only lost to the number one team in the country so couldn't they still be number two? If they had played the first week of the season they could end up that way but since they play late it's all about who loses last. It's already happened to Louisville. They beat WV two weeks ago, lost to Rutgers (an undefeated team) and are now below WV?!? I am all for a playoff, if you can defeat three of the top 8 teams in the country in consecutive weeks, you are the best, period.
