Fordham University. In 1936 and 1937 his offensive line was known as the "seven blocks of" GRANITE. In 1936 and 1937, John joined the Druze Babartsky, Vince Lombardi, Alex Wojciechowicz, Nat Pierce, Ed Franco and Leo Paquin to form the second version of the famous Fordham Blocks "Seven of Granite" under coach Jim Crowley. The line coach of those teams Frank Leahy was later head coach at Notre Dame. 1937 Fordham team was 7-0-1, the school last season undefeated.
