A brief history of the FIFA World Cup (Part II)

A Brief History of Chile "62"

The motto of the World Cup 62 Chile was "Because there's nothing we have, we will do everything" (because we have nothing, we will do). This is due to the earthquake that struck Chile in the months before the world cup, which left the country of South America all have to do to be ready in time, however, was in his favor that the work was completed time.

62 Chile was the first world cup in which the defensive game became a factor in the game as soon as equipment was something almost never I thought the extent that parties such as France 6 Germany 3, which decided the third place in the cup earlier were not so rare. It is in Chile for 62 teams that began not to worry so much about winning, but losing is not, perhaps thinking that we must win if they scored two goals or more. This tournament, in fact, end world cups such as 54, Hungary was score 27 goals in five matches, while Germany scored 23 in 6 games, or as you saw in the 58 Fontaine of France scoring 13 goals in 6 games or an ending in which seven goals were scored.

Chile 62 was also unusual in that led to the FIFA passing a rule that if a player played for a country could not do the other. This is because players such as Kubala of Czechoslovakia, which ended up playing not only Czechoslovakia but Hungary and Spain, while Puskas Hungary even scored a goal for Spain in Chile 62 against Mexico to give them a 1-0 win. Chile 62 also was a world cup in which unfortunately many of the best players in Europe of the time either did not really play as well as was expected of them as Yashin of the Soviet Union or people of Spain or not to play. As was the case with Di Stefano, who despite being fit in training are not allowed to play with Spain and perhaps because it became arguably the best player who never played in a World Cup.

Another interesting factor about 62 was Chile as Brazil won their first game against Mexico 2-0, while Uruguay gained theirs against Colombia 2-1, while Argentina was theirs to Bulgaria 1-0 but these three teams win even though they were severely criticized in their own countries. Chile 62 was also the only company in the world cup only to the extent that six players tied for the top scorer four times in one piece. The list of such players as Vava (Brazil), Garrincha (Brazil), Albert (Hungary), Ivanov (USSR), Jerkovic (Yugoslavia) and Sanchez (Chile). About the way the tournament was played, this was also the first world cup in which teams do not have to play each other twice in the first round to determine which the two reached the quarter-finals.

As for Italy, would be eliminated in the first round for the third time in a world cup but at least managed to qualify, after not having done it in 58 for what would be the first and last time. Italy in this world also play a most memorable match against Chile was so violent and full of dirty fouls will always be remembered as the "Battle of Santiago." Is being in this match that Italy not only lost 2-0, but had two men expelled, while Toro of Chile eliminated an Italian player with a left hook and was allowed to remain in the field. Chile however, had another 62 times of interest, such as:

1. Colombia 4 USSR 4 (first round)

This party is also one of the largest one has played time also was and remains the most goals the two teams have drawn level. It was also in this game for Colombia Col scored the first and so far the only objective Olympic never won a world cup. An Olympic goal is one where the ball goes directly from the corner point without being touched by another player.

2. Yugoslavia 3 Czechoslovakia 1 (Semifinal)

The party broke a record for the lowest attendance for a semifinal of the World Cup. As the number of fans in attendance was about 8,000.

3. Brazil 4 Chile 2

This was the first time two South American teams met in a semifinal world cup.

4. Brazil 3 Czechoslovakia 1 (Final)

Vava of Brazil became the first player to score in two finals different.

The World Cup 62 Chile saw many a great performance but perhaps the most prominent was Garrincha, who was able to win the Cup World to Brazil. This, of course, being with the help of Amarildo that through most of the tournament played for the injured Pele. As a footnote to this cup, Chile Yugoslavia beat the third-place has yet to win a game of the World Cup since. This despite having played in four World Cups since then.

A brief history of "Spain 66"

The world cup "Spain 1966" was first played in a English speaking country in addition to being that for many will be remembered for a very controversial win for the home team, for many reasons that go beyond their third goal in the final. For Italy, the 66 World Cup will probably be remembered as the lowest point in its football history, however, helped to awaken from of complacency that had lapsed, as it was thanks to a weak North Korea realized that any team can beat any other team. This mode of being more the case if running while their opponents walked on the field as if the mere presence was enough to score goals. England 66, however, will also be remembered world cup as a very defensive game and some flashes of brilliance, however, had its moments.

1. North Korea 1 Italy 0 (First Round)

This pairing is used to describe North Korea in the quarterfinals, which made the Asian team for the first time this far in a World Cup. This victory of Korea North was also the first time by an Asian team in a world cup.

2. North Korea Portugal May 3 (Quarterfinals)

In Pak this match North Korea's Seung-Zin scored what was then the fastest goal in the history of world cup. This game will be remembered as one of the greatest of all time as Portugal fell to 3-0 though, thanks to Eusebio, who scored four goals, was able to return and qualify for the semifinal.

3. England 1 Argentina 0 (Quarterfinals)

This game is mostly remembered for the expulsion of the captain of Argentina, a German referee Rattner (Kreitlein) who said he did not like the way it is being considered. This led Argentina to label the game as "the Ciglar theft (theft of century), because not only the expulsion of their captain, but the fact that a German referee had been chosen for England's match against them, while English arbitrator had been selected for the Germany game against Uruguay. All of which makes it seem as if these two countries had made a pact to help others. FIFA even created a rule to prevent this from happening in the future, along with another that no arbitrator from a country that had something to gain or lose by an encounter between two nations could be chosen for that particular game.

4. Germany 4 Uruguay 0 (Quarterfinals)

This game was submitted by Jim Finney England helped many suspected Kreitlein Germany because Germany had helped England in their first match against Argentina. Since the expulsion of Kreitlein Troche Silva and Uruguay with his having lost a hand ball in the penalty box by Schnellinger of Germany that gave more weight to arguments that could have been an agreement between England and Germany to help each other in their respective games.

5. England 2 Portugal 1 (Semifinals)

This game was controversial even before it began, as was originally scheduled to be played in Liverpool but moved to the Wembley Stadium due to interference by the English officials.

6. England 4 West Germany 2 (Final)

England became a champion for the first time and remain the only champion has played in one final. This game will be remembered for the third goal for England in the first overtime period that followed the game. As previously thought, and has recently been demonstrated through computer graphics Geoffrey Hurst shot at the mark of 111 minutes of play really does not go beyond the line goal. However, England scored a goal later in the game that made the score 4-2 however, some claim that objective should not be allowed. As some fans had made their way to the field yet (thinking that the game was over), while Hurst England kept running through the countryside, in way to put the ball in the German network. In fact it was the speaker of English who came to say that the game really over until the ball went into the German goal. Another factor to consider in this final was Hurst, who became the first and so far the only player in the history of the World Cup to score three goals in a final.

But England won the world cup even with some controversial moments so far has been not only their lone championship in world football, but his only appearance in a major final. This is the case because we still have to play in the final of the European Cup. England 66 unfortunately also went down in history as a world cup with very little in the way of great play and that creativity was replaced by nasty defense. In Italy, however, marked a turning point in his football. As that took them to see what changes would be required by them if they should return to its glorious past.

As a footnote, was Portugal, which won five matches this tournament that gave them 10 points and ranked among the top 10 teams in the overall standings of the World Cup. This despite having only played a World Cup.

A brief history of "Mexico 70"

The Mexico '70 World Cup is one that is mostly remembered for great football, teams strong and memorable parties in the opinion of some, make this the biggest championship world ever played despite the average non-target score is among the highest. However, I wonder if it's fair to compare this world cup for the past that were televised at all? This may be a debate however, Mexico 70 did enjoy being the first world cup that not only transmitting worldwide but with the advantage of instant replays.

Mexico 70 was also a world cup which produced important changes in the game. The first of which are yellow and red cards to players who have committed offenses in the yellow card is used as a warning while the red card meant expulsion the game the player who appeared to him. Another change in this World Cup was the first time the teams were allowed to replace players during the game. Being number two players that teams were allowed to replace (unlike today three) with a list that was presented to the game players eligible to enter the game. This system creates a situation in which only players on this list could get in the game but time has changed to what it is today, where any player on the computer that has not been suspended and may enter the field of play rather than someone. For my part I find strange, however, that FIFA has waited many years for install a system that allowed players to be replaced. It is, in fact, end the day on which teams were forced to play short handed sometimes when a player had been injured, whether they left the field or just held it in spite of doing literally nothing more than standing in place.

For These changes, however, was none other that was also accordingly and the system is that the goal difference is used to separate two teams finished tied on points, unlike before where teams had to play one extra game.

For Italy, this world cup was perhaps the most significant ever played as was the return to their pre-war glory of the thirties. Being the first time since 1938 that Italy not only passed the first round in a cup the world but as far as the final and although they would lose to Brazil, the efforts of this team brought great pride in the Italian game, he had taken after by beating North Korea 1-0 in the previous world loose. Italy look back had a great team that has so far been the only one in history to win the European Championship however, its performance in Mexico was 70 that got our football back among the best in the world. Italy lost to Brazil 4-1 but had his chances in a game was not so unequal as the result suggests, and many (myself included) are of the view that it was the fatigue of his previous encounter with Germany overtime took too of them to beat a very strong Brazilian team. This team, which one is believed by many who have been the largest in the history of Brazil.

Cup Mexico 70 World, which was also the first to be held in either Europe or South America, no doubt, had many good memories and some outstanding moments of which are included in this list.

1. Mexico 0 USSR 0 (first game)

This is the game that the first replacement of a player ever took place. As Anatoliy Puzach when Viktor was the subject of Serebryanikov after 45 minutes of play.

2. Italy 4 Germany 3 (Semifinal)

This was a legendary game that included almost everything a game can, after a draw in the last minute by Schnellinger for Germany at the end of regulation time with five goals overtime.

3. Brazil 4 Italy 1 (Final)

It was this game which Brazil was proclaimed champion for the third time and this factor which means you have to keep the Jules Rimet owned however, as a footnote, but was stolen in '83 and has yet to recover. Pele of Brazil became the first and so far the only player to be in three teams to win the world cup as it was also a member of his staff that won the world cup while 58 and 62 but despite this factor would not be the first player to play in three finals. This being the case, because he did not play for Brazil in the final 62.

Italy reached the last World Cup in Mexico '70, which surprised many at home but despite this they were not so warm welcome back home when they beat Brazil in the final. As data added to the Italian team, which was their goalkeeper, Dino Zoff, who was to captain World Cup winning team in Spain 82.

A brief history of "Germany 74"

The World Cup played in Germany in 1974 was first in which teams competed for the FIFA Cup instead of the Jules Rimet Cup. This cup was won by Brazil for 1970 held in Mexico when he defeated Italy in the 4-1 final. 74 World Cup in Germany was also the first in which teams reach the final is required to play seven games in place of the six who had played in recent World Cups. All thanks to a system in which eight teams qualified for the quarterfinals will be subject to two groups of four where the teams that finish first each group wanted to enter the final while the teams coming in second in each group would play for third place. All of which makes it necessary for the 38 matches to be played instead of 32 as was the case in the previous world.

Germany 74 was the last time that Italy had no luck with the first round in a cup world. As his was a team that was aging but other teams and events such as the following made the tournament memorable. As for me personally, but I did not see none of the matches live world cup that I watch replays of games on television in the months leading up to Argentina 78.

1. Brazil 0 Yugoslavia 0 (opening match)

This was the first time in the history of world cup in which the defending champion (Brazil) played the game open. This break the tradition that was the host nation was given the honor.

2. West Germany 1 Chile 0 (First Round)

Henceforth this game Cazeli Chile Carlos became the first player in the history of world cup to be sent off the field with a red card.

3. Scotland 1 Yugoslavia 1 (First Round)

As a result of this game, Scotland became the first team to be eliminated in the first round of World Cup without losing a game and having only conceded one goal.

4. East Germany 1 West Germany 0 (First Round)

This was the first and so far the last game to be played by a divided nation, which could be repeated if North Korea face South Korea in the next South Africa 2010.

5. West Germany 2 Netherlands 1 (Final)

In Holland Neeskins this game for 2 minutes for the game scored the faster in a world cup final. This goal coming on a penalty which was also the first contained in a final. Another unique feature of single Dutch final goal of this was that it was they who initiated and no German player actually touched the ball until they were already losing 1-0. The first German goal came with a penalty that made the first final not only for a penalty, but two of them. The second German goal was scored by Muller, who is his fourteenth world cup goal also made him top scorer in the history of the World Cup, beating French player Fontaine. The latter was also original in being the first in which no goals were scored in the second half.

Germany won the World Cup was organized in 74 with a great team that showed all their qualities however, other football teams such as the Netherlands and Poland also leave a good mark in this tournament. As for me personally, but Germany saw no 74 in vivo, it would be sad to know after Italy had not qualified for the quarterfinals, rather arrive in Argentina 78 days for the Azzurri .

A brief history of "Argentina 78"

An article about all the strange things and the first time that occurred in Argentina the world cup 78.

I've been a fan of football from the first world cup I saw back in '78, when The tournament took place in Argentina so far has been the last time it was held in South America. At least at that time who had a mind for trivia and observing or strange things happened for the first time in my own way of seeing things that are made these games memorable as the following facts.

1. Italy 2 France 1 (First Round)

This was a game in which Lacombe of France scored the fastest goal in the history of world cup, only 35 seconds for the party.

2. Argentina 2 Hungary 1 (First Round)

This was a game in which Hungary had two players card red. This is the first time more than one player was ejected from a game.

3. Argentina 2 France 1 (First Round)

This was the first Once a team has replaced their goalkeeper. This occurs when France was forced to replace their goalkeeper, I sent (for Baretelli) due to an injury sustained after back to hitting the goal post going for a shot by Valencia.

4. Italy 3 Hungary 1 (First Round)

This was a game in which Bettega Italian striker, hit the post three times. This may be a record.

5. France 3 Hungary 1 (First Round)

This was a game in which both French and Hungarian team entered the field with the same color jersey that created a strange situation in which the party had to be delayed until one team has a different uniform. This is not so easy as there was no solution yet found one as France played the game in the clothes of a local computer.

6. Tunisia 3 Mexico 1 (First Round)

This was the first time an African team ever won a match in a Cup World.

7. Brazil 1 Sweden 1 (First Round)

This was a game in which Brazil had a goal disallowed in the final minute of the match. This is because to the referee calling the game was over, while the ball was in the air after being led by Zico (to Brazil) and before they had crossed Swedish goal line.

8. Peru 3 Scotland 1 (First Round)

This is a game best remembered for Scotland with one of his players (Johnston) suspended for using illegal substances. Being the first time a player had been suspended for using a banned substance.

9. Countries Scotland 3 Holland 2 (First Round)

This is the game where Resenbrink scored the 1,000 th goal in the history of world cup.

10. The Netherlands 5 Austria 1 (quarterfinals)

This is a game that seemed strange, since Austria was being coached by a Dutchman, while that the Netherlands was being trained by an Austrian.

11. Brazil 3 Poland 1 (Quarterfinals)

This was a game known as the Brazil's third goal scored by Roberto in which the ball hit the post three times in the same play before going on the network.

12. The Netherlands 2 Italy 1 (Quarterfinals)

This was a game where the player Brandts Netherlands, scored two goals. First as an own goal by Italy and then a spectacular shot to compensate for their error.

13. Argentina 6 Peru 0 (Quarterfinals)

This was a game that even today bribery of suspicion, the Peruvian team was, like Argentina needed to win by four goals to advance to the finals instead of Brazil.

14. Brazil 2 Italy 1 (third place)

This was the game that decided the third place but Brazil became the first team to take this position without lost a single game throughout the tournament.

15. Argentina 3 Netherlands 1 (Final)

This was the first time that a substitute player scored a goal in a final came when he did it Nanninga Holland to tie the game at one piece. Another highlight of this final factor was that Resenbrink hit the post in the last minutes of the game that probably would have given the title of the Netherlands, as the game had finished 2-1 in its favor. A fact that perhaps makes the Netherlands the team to win the closest to a world cup without actually doing so. This game was also notable for the delay in the start when Argentina protested over an arm protection arm of the Netherlands René van der Kerkhof that FIFA had already approved. The Netherlands after the game became the first team to second place refuse to participate in the medal ceremony and the first to lose two consecutive finals.

In conclusion I would say that at times is perhaps little these stories and facts in addition to big game, or maybe just make minor parties more memorable quality.

A Brief History of Spain "82"

Spain World Cup 82 was the second I've seen in vivo and in my opinion was one of the greatest of all time. This being the case since not only was the first to include 24 teams, but great games like Italy vs Brazil, France vs Germany Poland vs. France and many others in a tournament that set the record for most goals ever scored in a world cup, breaking the record set in Switzerland 54 per two goals. The World Cup in Spain was also unique in being the first and so far the only one in which 12 teams qualified to the second round. This requires a system that these 12 teams were placed in four groups of three with the teams to come in first place of each group goes to the semifinal. In all this, however, also Spain 82 Two factors are rare and one of them is that no team left the World Cup without at least one goal and three teams, Italy, England and Cameroon left the tournament undefeated. As for me, personally, would be the first time I saw my beloved Italy win a world cup but not the last yet other times as listed below excel in my memory.

1. Belgium vs Argentina (1-0) was the first time the defending champions lost the match Inaugural World Cup.

2. Hungary vs El Salvador (10-1) was the first time a team scoring in double digits and a player comes off the bench (Kiss) got a hat trick.

3. Italy vs Cameroon (1-1) was the party that have benefited from Italy in the second round however, became the first team to accomplish the feat without winning a single game.

4. Algeria vs Germany (2-1) was the first time that an African team defeated a European team in a match of the World Cup.

5. Germany vs Austria (1-0) was a game that many suspected was fixed by both teams so they can get a result that was of mutual benefit and who may qualify. As was evident in the second half both teams were playing only for keeping score. Like every time a team took possession of the ball who blatantly pass it to each other without making any attempt to move forward while the other team made no effort to take the ball away from them. This led to the FIFA match its decision that the last two group games had to be the game simultaneously for any team could have known that was the most desirable result.

6. France vs Kuwait (4-1) is a game remembered for a goal by France which protest by a sheikh of Kuwait who arrived on the pitch (despite having no official position on the team in Kuwait) and to convince the referee to disallow a goal had given France. Being a goal that was taken away from Gires.

7. England vs France (3-1) was the game in which Robson scored the fastest in the history of world cup, only 23 seconds after launch. This objective still being faster than France's goal against Italy the previous world.

8. Spain vs Yugoslavia (2-1) was a game in which Spain tied the game at a piece with a determinate sentence for a lack easily made at least one meter clearly outside the area. It is also unfortunate that Spain lost initially, but the referee had given a Again he was the goalkeeper moved from his line before the ball was beaten. For my part I felt I should have just saved the trouble the charade and just give Spain the goal is basically what went on anyway.

9. Germany vs. France (3-3) was one of the semi-finals it was the first time in the history of world cup where penalties were used to decide the outcome. Being Germany, who beat France to reach the final.

10. Italy vs Germany (3-1) was the first time a South American (Brazil) was used to referee a final. Also the first time that a penalty was lost (Cabrini Italy failed to do the honors) on one end and the first half ended with no goals scored. Another novelty was that at no time the game was one of the teams winnings 2-1. So, as Germany scored the last goal of the game also made it the first time the losing team scored the last goal of the game. This target is marked by Breitner, who became the first European player to score two goals in two different endings. In this game Graziani of Italy also became in the fastest player to be replaced during the final, when he was injured just seven minutes into the game.

In conclusion I would say that sometimes it is perhaps little stories and facts in addition to big game, or maybe just make minor parties more memorable quality.
