College Football - Despite protests, it was really All About Tyrone Willingham

He would Roman was a great soldier, a strong, disciplined, decisive, unemotional type ready to go into battle. The problem of the University of Washington was that he went into battle with responsibility of being a football coach, not a soldier. So Tyrone Willingham received an early retirement from Husky Stadium.

Now he will to find other arenas for battle. Please do not feel bad for Ty Willingham. He has his pride, his integrity and loss of registration to accompany him elsewhere.

In 4 seasons with Willingham, the Huskies went 11-37 (23%), accumulating without winning a 0-12 record this year, the worst in the history of Washington School also worst ever by a team from the Pacific 10 Conference. After the end of the season 48-7 loss to California on the road, a local newspaper owner said it best, "Huskies deliver what Willingham Requests: Zero."

Before the final defeat, Willingham was asked if his last game as coach Husky would be sentimental to him. He said: "It will not. ... I was always on about our football team and our football players and hopefully never me. "

This from a man and football coach who was always demanding respect, no respect to earn respect. He was indifferent about being liked by the fans, promoters and media representatives. You could rightly call the warrior "somber."

In short, it was difficult to please. Conducted closed practices, keeping fans at bay. He took the names of the players' uniforms, decreasing its importance. He shielded his players, denying them the opportunity for personal growth. Clearly, he was not going to win any contest of personality in the best day of his life. He retired, but extremely sensitive to any suggestion of a perceived slight, criticism or suggestion that it was obviously a man of integrity.

While his players always demanded the respect and never had a bad word to say about it, who also played well below their potential. Maybe it did not help that their coach had the personality of an ashtray, so it is a badge of honor not to show any emotion at all. Any positive achievement for a player noticed little or held; always had work to do and more to do the upgrade.

Despite all the protestations of Tyrone Willingham, who really was all about Ty Willingham and not the players, fans, promoters, universities and media. They played a secondary role to Willingham's incessant need to be himself. He was doing everything possible to lead, but nobody was willing to follow. If he turned as he ran, he would have found anyone behind him.

Willingham had any success in training did not come with him to the University of Washington. He came to a proud tradition, the winning program that had slipped into mediocrity and let it all out to win and the worst in school and Pac-10 history.

Was it time for Ty Willingham to ride? You better believe it.
