The Bengals actually trace the story your way through the time when Paul Brown won an award for a team camp in the Football League. This team was then known as the Browns. Paul Brown was able to take his team to a large number consecutive wins and became a force for rebuilding the AFL.

Whatever the reason behind the choice of colors, they did try their luck for the Bengals. Another side of the story is always the merger AFL to the NFL. When this merger was completed, the Cleveland Browns and the Bengals two were placed in the same league. This has led to a rivalry that is alive until today.

Another unusual story associated with Paul Brown is the ability to select the players that can best be described as rough diamonds. They also sought players with an intelligence quotient that was well above average. Paul Brown might have been unconventional and a foreman, but he knew his job well.
