2008 UEFA European Football Championship
Better known as the Euro 2008 European Championship was a thrilling end to an eventful season. Qualification for the final began in August 2006 after the FIFA World Cup. Groups A, B, C and D, comprising 16 teams battled it out in the field to see who would go to Vienna for Euro 2008. Spain became the first team to win every game in the group stage of completion of France in 1984.
In terms of international competitions, Germany is considered one of the most successful teams. They have won six distinguished titles, three World Cups and three European Championships. Germany is also the only country with two teams of men and women win World Cups.
In the final of Euro 2008, Spain and Germany met at the Ernst Happel stadium in Vienna, Austria on 29 June. Full of confidence and enthusiasm, both teams were greeted by bleachers full of cheering fans. In the final, Spain beat Germany 1-0. Adidas produced the ball in the end and called Europass Gloria. Gloria Europass Europass is a version of which was the ball 14-panel used for qualifying matches.
David Villa of Spain injured his right thigh during the semifinal against Russia and could not compete in the Euro 2008. "I'm a little sad that I will not be there to participate, but it is better that a teammate who is fit plays instead of me, especially my injury has left me limping quite badly, "Villa said before the game.
New Style Euro 2008 Trophy
The new trophy awarded to the winning team was almost an exact replica of the original designed by Arthus-Bertrand. The revised design is no small figure juggling a ball in the back or pedestal marble. The new trophy is sterling silver, weighs 8 kilos and is 60 centimeters tall. The silver base was expanded, and the names of the winning countries were recorded on the back.
Euro 2008 Entertainment and Closing Ceremony
The closing ceremony was championship Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias, who sang the tournament's official song, "Can You Hear Me", composed by Rollo Armstrong. Iglesias is a native of Madrid with 18 Spanish No. 1 singles in the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks.
Some of the nearly 400 artists and performers including Shaggy, Christina Stürmer, Rawbau, The White Stripes, among others. The German dance group performs Bellini after each goal scored during the competition. Euro 2008 official mascots Trix and Flix were named after the names got 36% of the vote.
Welcome Home celebrations
The Euro 2008 champions Spain were greeted by thousands of fans who still excited to go home. The team was paraded through the city discovered on a bus as fans took to the streets, encouraging them. Coach Luis Aragones describes his team as "the best team in the world."
Euro 2008 was the first championship of Spain in Europe since 1964. The official end fitting to the conclusion, a version of "We Are The Champions" was touched by the speakers while red and yellow confetti rained revelers.
