Who do you go when you do not have a home team?
I was surfing and looking at a map of the NBA and surprised at what many states do not have teams of the NBA. So I was curious that most people root for (in all sports, NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL, etc) when they have their own equipment, and how arrive at this choice? - Is the most popular teams / large market teams? (I've heard a lot of people say they are fans because they grew up watching Lakers on TV ... which makes sense since they are one of the most nationally televised teams) - Everyone loves an underdog / feel-good stories as the Golden State Warriors? - O Patriots top dog? - An athlete some that may be the face of that team, Tony Romo and the Cowboys, or A-Rod to the Yankees? - Or is proximity / teams close to you? (People who are fans of Sacramento Kings basketball, but the Oakland Raiders and Oakland A's fans for football and baseball?) - Tradition? (Dad was a Bulls fans, I'm a Bulls fan) - Or "Who cares, we have College team for that!"?
I think those people who have no home team fall in some of the categories 1) People who root for the team closer, like a fan rooting new jersey for the Yankees. 2) The bandwagoners that the root of the greatest no matter what, that is, the Patriots 3) People who really do not care about the teams and the root of the most exciting, ie, disorders that live in New York so my loyalties are pretty set, but if none of the teams I like are playing I like rooting for helpless.
