In this article we will look at life and football career of Randy Moss, wide receiver patriotic stars. While some of his transgressions off the field are well known, his stature as one of the best receivers ever in the NFL is undisputed. We will examine the biography of Randy Moss.

Randy Moss was born in Rand, West Virginia, February 13, 1977 to Maxine Moss and Randy Pratt. Rand was a mining town, not the kind of city that can be expected to produce a major NFL stars. Rand was too small to have its own high school. Therefore, Randy attended high school in the now-defunct DuPont High in nearby Belle West Virginia.

During his high school years, Randy excelled in the sport. His favorite sports were football and basketball. He helped bring his state team titles in both football and basketball during his junior and senior years. Due to its excellent performance in football during his high school years, became college football powers very interested in it. The best schools that have shown an interest in Randy Ohio State, Notre Dame, and Florida State University. Lou Holtz of Notre Dame, said "Randy Moss was the best high football player he had ever seen." In 1995, Randy signed a letter of intent to go to Notre Dame on a full football scholarship.

Racial tensions were high in high school who attended Randy Moss. These tensions given rise to many fights at DuPont High School. After signing to go to Notre Dame, Randy was involved in one of those racially motivated fights. This led to the repeal of Notre Dame scholarship. Lou Holtz suggested to Bobby Bowden, FSU coach to give Randy a chance. So Randy FSU intend to go a full football scholarship. However, due to his letter of intent signed in Notre Dame, the NCAA considered it an exchange student. This made him eligible to play for the Seminoles in the 1995 football season. In 1995, Randy was a red shirt.

In 1996, due to some off-field transgressions, Randy was fired from Florida. He never ended up playing for FSU. Then needed to make a decision on where to play his college football. In his opinion, Marshall University, which was only a couple of hours outside their hometown. Randy knew that Marshall was a Division 1-AA to Division 1-A, which would mean greater competition and more exposure to scouts of the NFL. I'm sure this influenced his decision to attend Marshall.

During the 1996 season, Randy broke many records as freshmen in Marshall. This includes most of the games with a touchdown catch in a season (14), most consecutive games with a touchdown catch (13) and most touchdown passes caught in a season (28). He also broke the record for number of receiving yards made by a freshman in a season (78 catches in 1709), a record that still stands today. Marshall helped win the national championship in Division I-AA schools.

Randy also Marshall played football during his sophomore year. This was the first year of the University as a Division IA school. During the two seasons he played in Randy Marshall broke many records in the NCAA. In total, Marshall, who scored a touchdown in the 28 games he played. He won the Fred Biletnikoff Award as the leading receiver width of the nation, and was a finalist for the 1997 Heisman. Finished 4th in voting for this year, behind Ryan Leaf, Peyton Manning and Charles Woodson. Not Randy bad considering it was only a sophomore. Charles Woodson, the University of Michigan star, who won the Heisman that year, said "Randy had superior talent, and was surprised that Randy did not get the Heisman. "

Randy Moss was so good in his second year at Marshall, which many of the NFL scouts began to take notice. It seemed as if Moss would be selected in the 1998 NFL Draft, and this is exactly what happened. This meant that I was not going to attend Marshall University. The remarkable two seasons at Marshall had it good enough to get drafted him.

Moss was adopted by Minnesota in the 21st round of the 1998 draft in the NFL. Was expected to be drafted in the top 5 rounds, but in project teams hesitant. I'm sure his off-field issues played a role here. In addition, Moss disappeared from the NFL combine in Indianapolis, before the draft that year, was a concern for some NFL teams. The combined provides a sampling of the best potential recruits NFL scouts in the NFL. Combined was lost due to dental abscess. However, some believe he was trying to avoid drug testing. In any case, Minnesota at the time was a perfect fit for Randy.

At the end of the 1998 regular season in Minnesota, Moss was named Pro Bowl starter and NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year for his rookie record 17 touchdown receptions. Between 1998 and 2004, Moss had a stellar career in Minnesota. He went A couple of years with the Oakland Raiders before ending in the New England Patriots.

In 2007, the New England Patriots took Moss in a trade with Oakland. Moss did well during the 2007 season for the Patriots. He had the most total yards for the Patriots with 98 receptions for 1493 yards. That season he won his sixth pick Pro Bowl, he notes in 13 of 16 games, nine 100-yard games, and helped the New England Patriots an undefeated season, with the only loss in the Super Bowl XLII against the Giants in New York.

In 2008, Moss had 69 receptions for 1.008 yards and 11 touchdowns. Quite an achievement, considering the quarterback Tom Brady was lost to a season ending knee injury in the first game of the year. In 2009, Moss is having a stellar season for the Patriots.

Randy Moss this point has been incredible football career. Although it has had its share of off-field transgressions, has that uncanny ability to focus on the field and bring out at a time when it really matters. His story is a rags to riches. The town grew up in was very poor. He has been motivated by his need to help your mother, worked long hours as a nursing assistant to help keep your kids healthy and happy during their growth. His story is one you see often in professional sports.

Randy Moss has become one of the best wide receivers in the NFL. In 2008, he obtained $ 14 million. In the future, which should be included Hall of Fame. Not bad for a guy of poverty ridden Rand, West Virginia. His story of rags to riches should serve as an inspiration for all children they are growing up in poverty ridden conditions. He is achieving his idea of the American dream, and has proved that hard work and focus when it matters, may be on achievement, no matter what your endeavor.
