How 5 major NCAA football teams got their names fascinating
What is the name of a football team? Throughout the season NCAA Football, we constantly hear the names of several teams and watch the games, learning outcomes and manage our college football teams of fantasy. However, we rarely think about the origins of the names of various schools. Here are some fascinating stories about the names of some NCAA schools':
1. Alabama Crimson Tide
In the history of NCAA football, Alabama has become one of the most successful teams. However, you have ever wondered about the history of the computer name? Press originally referred to the name of football as "Crimson White." This allusion to the colors of the school. More later became the "thin red line." However, in a 1907 game between Alabama and Auburn, the two teams met in a sea of red mud. By Therefore, Alabama became the "Crimson Tide".
2. Penn State Nittany Lions

The name "Razorbacks" originated from a talk by the first professional football coach Arkansas, Hugo Bezdek, made the students of Arkansas. Bezdek gave the talk after school seventh win of the season. He noted that the team had played as a band of "Wild Hogs Razorback." The rest, as say, is history. Since 1910, Arkansas had a new mascot: The Razorbacks.
4. Oklahoma Sooners
Oklahoma has become famous for his game in the field. However, have you ever wondered what exactly is late? Before the opening of the U.S. government regions in Indian Territory for liquidation Sooners were actually people who illegally entered the land. "Sooners" refers to the first settlers in 1889 moved to Oklahoma land before 12:00 noon on April 22, 1889.
5. Tennessee Volunteers
We all know what they are volunteers. However, that means volunteers the name of the Tennessee Volunteers concern? During the first part of the War of 1812, Tennessee won the nickname "The Volunteer State." President James Madison General Andrew Jackson ordered 1,500 troops to get volunteers from Tennessee. The troops were to battle the Native Americans and the British, but never fought for war. General Andrew Jackson later became the U.S. president.
