There are parts of the country that are so sparsely populated, is the best option for schools actually small that they still want to have a program. Football is a great sport to have that option. I know of no other sport that can scale down the style. Never heard of men's basketball 3 or 5 baseball man. I'm not sure six men, but I know that Heisman Trophy winner and former Chicago Bear Rashaan Salaam played eight-man high school football.
