Gauteng ready for 2010 Sports Stadium
The human factor, a new feature film based on the victory of 1995 World Cup South Africa and Nelson Mandela is about to start filming in Cape Town.
This was a great moment in the history of our country, especially because we are a national sport mad. You will soon realize until how our advertising reflects this when we look at some of the ads on TV with main and secondary stages used for many shoots.
2010 has brought with it the opportunity to improve many of our facilities in the province, adding world-class potential glamor to these locations. But be prepared to film some important restrictions before, during and after the Confederations Cup in June 2009 and the World Cup in June 2010, especially in the precincts surrounding of the official three stages.
There are also expected to be less restrictions for stadia and training base (some of which have yet to be confirmed.) Despite Johannesburg and Tshwane can be oversubscribed during the Confederations Cup and World Cup, remember you have many other great opportunities Gauteng in terms of sports facilities and accommodation and would be delighted to welcome film crews!
Gauteng definitely not just about the 'three Large '2010 World Cup stadiums FIFA and the province has many sports grounds over the major cities and towns, some of which have been at the center international attention earlier.
Two of the stages of major South African rugby are in Gauteng: Tshwane Loftus Versfeld, home of the Blue Bulls and Ellis Park (recently renamed Ellis Park Stadium) in Johannesburg, where the Springboks won the Rugby World Cup in 1995. Also within the grounds of Ellis Park is the Joburg Stadium, which is dedicated to athletics. The official residence of Gauteng Cricket is Wanderers Cricket Stadium. Along with the Supersport Park in Centurion, Tshwane, and in Willowmoore Park Benoni, Ekurhuleni, played an important role in the success of the Cricket World Cup 2003.
Gauteng is to be home at three stages of the 2010 FIFA Cup World. Ellis Park Stadium and Soccer City stadium in Johannesburg and Loftus Versfeld in Tshwane are making the World Cup standards. Loftus Versfeld and Royal Bafokeng are spaces privately owned, while Ellis Park is the long-lease agreement, with football stadium in the city, which was previously owned and operated by the Association South African Football, to be returned to the State and managed by the City of Johannesburg.
2010 Johannesburg: Soccer City Stadium, FNB Stadium, or as it is known, located in Nasrec, is the landmark for the FIFA World Cup 2010 and will host both the opening match and the final. Soccer City Stadium is the largest Africa. The stadium offers 80 000 seats plastic bucket, and has a six-foot moat "to protect players from the fans. The upper level has been extended throughout the stadium and 99 corporate boxes added, increasing capacity of 94 700. A roof was added purse, creating the impression of a giant pumpkin. Soccer City is home to the South African Football Association and the home of Orlando Pirates.
With four months to go before the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 starts in June renewals in the Ellis Park stadium to host the opening and end, complete with only finishing touches left. Ellis Park has undergone major changes. A new roof has been added to the west, south and north is being renovated and added additional seating. new changing rooms, VIP, media and medical facilities and a facade of new northern entrance to the grandstand were built. It currently has capacity to 62 000 soccer fans.
With the completion of the stadium, the focus has shifted to update the site, which is nearing completion. Landscaping includes a water feature between the Johannesburg Stadium and Ellis Park Stadium and public art installations. The Olympic size pool in the sports arena has also been updated.
Johannesburg is also home to training sites. Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto has been worth R69million reforms in preparation for one of three official training venues for the World Cup. The old stadium has been completely renovated with a new platform and world class facilities added. It has a contemporary design with a roof over the spectators in the gallery. Four lighting towers at each of the four corners of the stadium will provide illumination. Fold up like a track and a synthetic track and new posts polycarbonate were installed throughout the stadium.
The other two training places are Orlando Stadium, also in Soweto, and Rand Stadium in South city.
Tshwane 2010: Loftus Versfeld Stadium in Sunnyside is one of the oldest and most established South African stadiums and the site has been used for sporting events from 1903. Construction at the stadium is almost complete. The new roof on the flag of this is a major upgrade project.
In addition, the stadium are also receiving new media and local operations centers. Loftus is the home of football club in the Premier League, Mamelodi Sundowns and the Blue Bulls.
Tshwane training sites include the Super Stadium in Atteridgeville, a stadium of 25 000. Since 2007, the stadium has undergone substantial improvement including the construction of a new main hall and VIP suites new lighting and is in a stage that can be used for international matches. HM Pitje stadium also is 25 000 seats and its 2010 update includes a brand new main pavilion.
Ekurhuleni 2010: Although none of the World Cup games be played in Ekurhuleni, there are four practice stadiums namely the potential Sinaba, Vosloosrus, Makhulong and Katlehong stadiums. Construction is well on stage Makhulong way and is scheduled to be ready by mid-2009.
With a planned capacity of around 15 000 seats, the stadium will comply with all FIFA and the first Minister Soccer League (PSL) requirements. These include flood lights, the players and management facilities, security, services, V-VIP and VIP areas and 200 square meters as the media center. Kaizer Chiefs Mogale City will become the first team in South Africa to own their own stadium when the 55 000 seater stadium has Amakhosi completed this year.
The new stadium, which is being developed at a cost of R1.2 billion, will be part of a major sports complex constituency being developed 40 kilometers west of Johannesburg.
Sedibeng: While not an official training camp Thabo George Stadium in Vereeniging has been updated. Much work is being done in and around the stadium as part of a large venue Sedibeng 2010.
