New Pro Football Leagues

What do about the New United Football League good or bad for NFL?
I think it good for the NFL to finally have fall competition in pro football
I think eventually it will be bad for the NFL but good for the fans and players. Right now it doesn't compete, but it will one day. Then the players and owners will be more willing to compromise if they know that they have someone competing for their fan base. We wouldn't even be talking about a lock-out if the UFL was large enough to compete with the NFL. Star players would cross over and may never come back. Owners wouldn't be jacking up ticket prices while still putting an inadequate product on the field. They would also feel more pressure to put together a better team if there was a UFL team in the same town competing for their market.
All in all, a successful UFL would keep the NFL honest. As it is right now, we have to accept whatever the league and the owners decide. No matter if its, "our team tanked last year but we think that a 10% increase in ticket prices is in order" or "we're not making as many millions as we should, even though the average fan who waits in line 3 hours to pack his ass into the nose bleed section of our outdated, falling apart stadium to cheer on the team I put on the field that hasn't been to the playoffs since the Clinton administration, if the players don't give us more of their share we'll lock them out and further piss off the poor folks who may not make a million dollars after 20 years of 40 hour work weeks in the same dead-end, piss ant job but who spends his few extra dollars to pay for my 6th yacht" (sorry that's a bit of a run-on sentence)
I hate how arrogant and egomaniacal the owners have become in this league. Suitable competition to it will be welcome. I hope the UFL makes it one day.
