Why are football schools start before school starts, and playing basketball during the Christmas holidays?
The Classes begin in September, 8th, and have been playing football for 2 weeks. Also schedule basketball games during the Christmas holidays. That only demonstrates that schools are more concerned with athletics from academics, which makes students to forget why they are in school, first place - to get an education! I have only 15 so I dont know .. what always used to be this way?
Unfortunately schools are preparing for what the university and beyond is like athletics and is a source of enormous profits, so it has to be good to get paid and the athletic field (the schools and not just athletes). I agree with you that athletics is out of place in importance of obtaining a good education, however, if you are training for sports and even games outside the normal school day, then maybe you can focus on school work when school is in session.
