Washington Redskins Tickets - McNabb Play a risky signing for the Redskins
Landing a player the caliber of Donovan McNabb is always going to mean a significant amount of fanfare from any computer, and for good reason. Immediately Redskins to improve in a crucial position and very well could be the team that has improved in the league next year. But with McNabb entering the twilight of his career, is also a very risky maneuver that could bring immediate dividends, while that cost a lot for the future.
For McNabb, the Redskins gave up his second-round pick for this year's draft and another selection parole in 2011, which will be a third round or fourth-round pick depending on how well you play McNabb. Because the Redskins were one of the worst teams in the League a year ago, the second-round pick is the 37th selection in the draft. For the Eagles, the picks will help significantly as they seek to strengthen its staff after the departure of Brian Westbrook and McNabb. For a team like the Redskins, who also has a lot of holes to fill after a regular season 4-12 in 2009, the movement will make it much more difficult to build through the draft within the next couple of seasons.
More importantly, however, acquisition is that McNabb does not warrant that the Redskins will be an immediate contender. With a squad that won only four games last season, McNabb may could help them double their win total, why not bring back to the playoffs. In arguably the best division in football in general, the Redskins are still likely to be the fourth best team, but McNabb has another solid season behind center. As the Eagles to build towards the future, getting younger and cheaper in key positions, the Redskins are the opposite direction.
Due to the location of the division, would have made much more sense for a team that was a quarterback away from the race to land instead of McNabb to the Redskins, who still look to be a team sub.500. True, McNabb had another good season in 2009, but so did a group of talented players to emerge as potential stars of the league. In Philadelphia, wide receiver DeSean Jackson is one of the most electric players in the league and tight end Brent Celek is beginning to establish itself as a premier tight end.
Running back LeSean McCoy also appears to be solid and will replace Westbrook an even bigger role on offense in 2010. In Washington, Clinton Portis is the shadow of his former self and Santana Moss is not the big play threat the Redskins would be expected. McNabb will have to produce without much of a support squadron, which, to be fair, is something he has been able to do for most of his career.
The move has a couple of interesting angles, though, especially for the future of quarterback Jason Campbell. Although Campbell has plenty of talent, he has struggled to take the next step as a starting quarterback. It has not helped the Redskins have failed to provide him with adequate weapons on the offensive, but its development has been considerably slower than Washington had expected. The Redskins are almost certain to look closely to address the draft Campbell, you may want to replace some of the draft picks they lost in obtaining McNabb. However, even if the Redskins manage to sign McNabb to an extension, which is something they were working from 05 April, is hard to imagine playing the same level as was done for a much more talented Eagles team.
In the end, McNabb will certainly help to sell <a href="http://www.stubhub.com/washington-redskins-tickets/"> Washington Redskins tickets </ a>, as they are more competitive immediately. In a league where you need a quarterback to succeed, the Redskins at least have a good faith in the boot McNabb, for the first time in a long time, but still lack the overall depth and talent to make a push towards a title. With it's unclear how long McNabb has left as a quarterback high level, the Redskins need to make some more moves too early to give him a chance of success. With a quarterback 33 years old with a history of injury, the clock is ticking for the Redskins.
